GDT 7-19: Marcell Rides the Pine Again

Are the Braves show casing Meth or about to trade Ozuna. Seems weird that he is basically a pinch hit role only now when they wouldn’t sit him while he was clearly hurt.
 
I think they're doing what should have been done two months ago in finally putting together the best lineup they can unless Marcell can actually play a defensive position in which he is a better hitter than the current guy there, but it's not possible.

They probably think they need to go 9-2 or 10-1 in next 11 to get them to 52-55 or 53-54 on July 31 to even think about buying which they shouldn't.

I guess it makes some sense to try and see if you can go on a 10-0 or 9-1 run before the deadline before you completely wave the white flag, but they still need to understand that it’s not happening this year and at least sell off the expiring contracts.

There’s been some speculation that they could be sitting him because he said he’d veto any trade since he has that ability. They could be sitting him to make him change his mind. Ozuna has been a really good Brave for the most part. Hope we don’t see a messy divorce.
 
I'm just baffled that they finally go to urgency mode in win chasing in mid July with the St. Louis series. Do we really expect Wentz, Dunning, and Elder to pile wins while they wait until September for Schwelly and Sale? I swear, this will be the dumbest organization if they buy if they're still like 6 games under .500 and behind teams like the Marlins.
 
AA is gonna over ride Snit to run this lineup and see if it can go on a run to see if he should buy but with Sale and Schwellenbach out for 4-6 more weeks that would be silly bc we can't sustain it that long running that many bp games a week.

The Braves stuck by him when he was horrible and hit his wife so he can't be to mad at em.

Just watch… Wentz and Dunning are gonna have that real Soler/Rosario/Pederson energy

Oh I agree and it’s obviously speculation but it would make some sense. That’s the problem with Ozuna… he can veto any trade. If I were him, I’d want to go to a better contender in the last year of the deal. Come back to the Braves cheap next year if both parties are still interested.

Personally I think it helps next season by keeping the casual fans engaged than getting some lottery pick for iggy. If Ozuna isn't gonna play, then sure, get the lottery pick. I wanna keep butts in seats as much as possible to have as much money as possible next season
 
I don’t know if even the casual fans are going to be offended by trading Ozuna at this point. The excitement of seeing Drake and Murphy every day would be worth it.

That's what I would do to. But like you said it don't make sense bc they should have done this over a month ago. Why now so close to the deadline unless they wanna showcase Murph and keep Ozuna from failing a medical

Iggy would get much more than a lotto pick. Especially if the Braves pay the salary

This is the only scenario that makes sense.

He’s not suddenly more injured than he was, and Murphy/Baldwin aren’t suddenly better DH candidates.
