This is a very good point. The Braves are in a position to pay all these salaries and still reset the tax penalty, and can possibly even take on some salary via bad contracts. This adds quite a bit of value for teams with limited budget at the deadline.

I always thought Tommy Lasorda was a jerk, but he did have one good joke in him. Someone asked if he thought former Braves' catcher Bruce Benedict was slow. Tommy responded something to the effect "Benedict raced a pregnant woman and came in third."

But you're right. Ozuna's presence alone makes the possibility of misuse likely.

Or…resting Ozuna when he was hurt rather than letting him tank his value?

This is the dumbest way to handle Ozuna.
 
Of course, last night this lineup lead to a three run first.

They are trying to find something that will work, because Acuna leading off wasn’t.

This likely won’t be a long term thing, but if it helps for a while… okay.
