119th Congress or Red Wave In Adult Land

This was nothing short of a masterful performance by Trump/Johnson.

The amount of "I was wrong" that will end up happening from people like Paul and Massie by next year will be incredible to watch.
Finally passing a reconciliation bill when you control both chambers and the White House: masterful.

There is only one man on this planet, Donald J Trump, who could pull off the largest spending bill in history while controlling all 3 branches of government.

Masterful!

I think it's interesting that the cuts to Medicare and Medicaid don't happen until later and they'll try to blame it on dems and the idiot seals will clap and agree.

Even assuming Powell were doing anything wrong with the renovations, the guy who sets our monetary policy should really not be in charge of budgeting the renovation of a major federal building.

Alas, I have very little trust that the person who keeps saying Powell is about to be fired to appease Trump is acting in good faith here.

Why even have a fucking Congress? How is it possible we have a system that allows this? Don’t get me wrong, if Congress wants to run out the clock on their term without passing a bunch of conservative legislation they otherwise could, I’ll not lose a lot of sleep. But Congress should not get to just opt out entirely because the Rules Committee said so.

Imagine if their voting base could independently think. The electoral consequences would be catastrophic.

Luckily, the cult is undeterred
If D can’t win back Congress in 2025 after Trump’s torpedoed his own base, they truly have no shot to ever be relevant again

Doesn't Congress always go on recess in August.

And voting on the release of the Epstein files is performative. This is something within the purview of the executive branch.

The greatest swamp drainer we've ever seen

MAGA!

What’s most insane about this is… why? What could they possibly be gaining politically to just not vote on this? I suspect Nsacpi is 100% right on it not even mattering. Between the courts and the executive branch’s ability to just say it’s part of an investigation, it’d be toothless. And yet they are explicitly saying they just won’t do any work until September rather than hold a vote? Makes no sense.

why? because the boss said to stop talking about it

Johnson's behavior is not that unusual.

Every Speaker and Senate majority leader has carried a lot of water for the president when they have belonged to the same party.

The only detail that is different is the president is someone with a track record of being a sexual predator.

The country elected him in spite of that track record being readily accessible for anyone who cared. What is Johnson supposed to do in this situation. The country made a choice.
