The Miller for De Vries trade is very similar to the Chapman for Torres trade the Cubs made in 2016. The rationale of the Cubs back then was an elite BP arm can be leveraged in the postseason to dramatically increase the chances of winning short series. I don't think Miller is quite at the level of peak Chapman, but at least the logic tracks.

Perfect trade for a rebuilding team like the As though.
