Minor League Thread Part Deux

I wonder why Lodise didn't play in the DH today?
Logan Braunschweig, Dixon Williams, and Dallas Macias didn't play today either. With how bad the hitters are in the system for the most part, I'd play them as much as possible the last two months just to see how they stack up.

I can't wait until Essenburg and the pitchers get assigned and start playing.

It's a bit irrelevant, but I wonder how many top 100 prospects are we gonna end up with at the end up of the season? I'm thinking Fuentes and Caminiti are locks, both probably top 50. I feel like Ritchie falls in the 75-100 range. What are the odds Tornes cracks the list after a very solid season in the DSL, while playing half the season at just 16 years old?
Only one in the pre-deadline list from FG fwiw.

Sears starting for Columbus
De Grandpre starting for Rome

Gwinnett and Augusta have not released starters. If the draftees aren't playing today, there's not much reason to follow the minors today.

I would highly question FGs rankings if they don't highly rank a barely 20 year old pitcher who flew through the minors with High k rates and low BB rates, and whose entire arsenal of pitches all rate as above average or much better on their own Stuff+ rankings.

if you're talking about fuentes, he is the lone braves prospect on the FG list, at 69 right now and i imagine he'll be moved up a lot when the list is updated after the season

i'd question stuff+ before i question the prospect lists. the stuff grading systems seem like they still need a lot of refinement.

If they don't have Caminiti in the top 100 then I'd discredit it right then

I assumed it was Caminiti. I could have sworn Caminiti was in their pre-season top 100.

lol that's insane. I'm sure they had guys from this years draft already in there
The one guy said, in a chat a little after the off-season list was released, that after re-examining past top prospect lists, pitcher proximity was something they were not factoring in enough. Basically, because Cam is so far away/young, his prospect status was discounted.

DSL Braves really wasted a couple of solid pitching performances today from RHPs Raudy Reyes and Marcos Pol. Reyes went 4, giving up one hit, walking two and striking out 6. Pol followed up by giving up 1 hit and 1 walk (along with one hit-batsman) and 5 strikeouts in 3 IP. Braves blew three-run leads in both the bottom of the 9th and 10th to lose 8-7 in 10.

SS Angel Carmona who was one of the Braves' most prominent signees last January has been playing every day after not playing earlier in the season (must have been an injury). Not hitting for much of an average (.205), but four of his eight hits have gone for extra bases and he's walked six times in 46 PAs while striking out 10 times.

Cam is a 45+ FV guy and ranked 102 at the moment on their big board. Generally their top 100 will only go as low as FV50 with maybe a couple of 45+'s on there. Cam has had a good year and with a year closer to the majors I wouldn't be surprised to see him as a FV50 guy on next years list which is going to put him somewhere likely in the back half of the top 100. Funetes should jump to the 20-50 range.

And the top guys recently drafted are always going to immediately go on the top 100 list. Most of the top 10 guys usually get slapped with a 50 FV or higher so that will slot them in automatically.

Douglas Glod remains hot in Augusta. In 112 PAs since June 6, he's hitting .284/.393/.463 and an .856 OPS. The K's are still a problem, but he is worth keeping an eye on.

Eric Hartman is also red hot, hitting .295/.392/.500 (.892 OPS) over his last 52 PAs. I honestly thought he deserved a promotion over Drake. I'm really starting to this kid is legit. He's hitting better than most prep drafted players from the 2024 class, and he's younger than most, having just turned 19 on June 16.
