GDT 8-5: Brewers at Braves; Game 2

Before the deadline, I think it was a 0% chance AA gets fired. Now I think that number is non-zero. He did nothing to improve the team at present or future, and now attendance is getting embarrassingly bad.

I wouldn't call 30K embarasasingly bad since school started back on Monday

Paying the full salary of both guys since you were on the hook anyway likely nets you back more than a lottery ticket

But you're assuming there was a lottery pick available. None of us know went on behind closed doors but if somebody offered us somebody with little to no upside then why pay Ozunas salary for somebody else to win? Makes 0 sense from a business standpoint point and that's what it is.
you are correct.. the Braves are going to pay the rest of the salaries AND someone else is going to win this year. I don't see why it matters if that happens together or separate.

Also, we don't know what was offered or what deals he was working.. but I am finding it really hard to believe that he couldn't get something for him. yeah it was going to be less than it should have been if they would have handled Ozuna correctly. But it would have been something at least.

I personally think he was working on something like the Buxton deal but couldn't get the other team to agree and he didn't have any pivot plans and failed to do anything. But his excuse of not trading to just dump salary doesn't pass the stink test for me.

You're right but at least you're letting him hit for your team instead of somebody else's.
What is the point of that? The value is useless anyways. At least you could maybe get someone worth keeping on the 40 man. Potentially a AAA reliever.

Like I said before, Grant Holmes was picked up off the scrap heap. So was Tyler Matzek. There are dozens of these guys around the league. Sure, it's super unlikely that any "prospect" we could have realistically traded these guys for would have gone on to do much in Atlanta. But the odds are not zero.

But the odds are most definitely zero that Ozuna and Iggy will provide value to this team beyond this season.

Did you look at the crowd? There's no way 30k was there.

No because I haven't watched the games in a bit. Don't really care how many were actually there. In the end all that matters are attendance numbers.

Like I said in the other thread. Whatever attendance issues the team may have the rest of the season isn't likely to effect payroll in 2026. But next year will so it's important to built a competitive team in the offseason.
