GDT 8-19: White Sox-Braves Game 2

The future is still bright. Sad some of you don’t have the mental fortitude to bear one hiccup season in the midst of the great run. But I guess when you’re projecting psychological weakness on the players, you’re really projecting.

What exactly are you basing this team's future is bright on?

Right now, they have 3 OFs that can hit pretty well, but 2 of them are absolutely horrible in the field.

Riley, sale, and Acuna can't stay healthy.

Strider is hardly a given to ever be good again. Hell, he's personally worried about his fastball.

Ozzie has fallen off so hard that his cheap option is a question.

SS says he broke the bone from throwing too hard. What does backing off do to his stuff.

Jiminez and Lopez, who knows?

There's question marks all over this team.

Now there is money, so hopefully AA spends wisely instead of extending SS#2, Drake, and Acuna

The position-player core is still very good. There’s a couple aces on the IL that will return in 2026 (plus López, who’s very good, irrespective of how he’s deployed). The young pitching depth is very solid (with Waldrep looking great in MLB; Ritchie and Fuentes in AAA; Owen Murphy back; AJSS returning eventually, having looked like a ROY candidate before he went down; Caminiti a couple seasons away but a likely a fast-riser). There are finally some interesting position-player prospects on the farm. The Braves will likely have a lot of draft capital in 2026. The Braves will also have ~$100m to spend in FA this offseason (and better fucking use it).

Lots of reasons to think there’s still a back-half to this window.

I do like Fuentes, Murphy, Richie, and caminiti; but I've loved Milb pitchers before, so I know how they can crash hard in mlb
