Wentz isn't this good, but I think he's made the necessary adjustments to think he could be a quality pitcher for us in some capacity. His command has been pretty excellent in Atlanta.Wentz will came back to earth as will Waldrep. I don't really care about Wentz but Waldrep could be a really helpful piece going forward so hopefully when he does hit the skids he can re adjust.

Except that Murphy’s slump won’t last.August is like the 2023 offense returned. Even without Acuna mashing. Profar and Money Mike over 200 RC. Olson and Ozuna 150 RC. Even Nacho has managed a 102 RC. Then theres Sean Murphy. .029/.175/.029 He is barely breaking .200...........OPS. Thats even wose than Melvin.
I could see Wentz in the bullpen next year if he keeps this up and be a depth option for the rotation but aren't we his 3rd or 4th team this year?Of course. But they are hot now. I think Waldrep looks like a middle of the rotation starter and Wentz as a long reliever/#5 SP. I am legitimately worried the front office will now say we dont need anymore SP.
yep.. as soon as it is no longer hot in Atl, he will be fine.Except that Murphy’s slump won’t last.
October will be here soon.yep.. as soon as it is no longer hot in Atl, he will be fine.

I don’t fully buy Wentz as anything but long relief yet, but the last sentence is why I think it’s soy when people complain everytime AA brings in journeyman pitchers. You can’t completely rely on that formula, obviously, but the Braves themselves rehab pitchers to great effect all the time. Pierce Johnson and Dylan Lee are prime examples currently.Overall this year and last he put up a high 4 ERA with a low 4 FIP. He really just needed to improve a little bit to be useful. What has changed is he went from well below average extension to elite extension. Going from 24th percentile to 99%. That means he releases the ball closer to home. If he can maintain anything close to that in the future we got something. Plenty of good pitchers went through a few teams before figuring it out.

Touki and Gohara were in that group too. One of these needs to be heading toward a Cy Young, if not Cooperstown… so I’m with you. Joey is the Ace upon which our pitching foundation for the future shall be built.I liked Wentz when he was coming up with Allard and Soroka.. so by god you can't take him away too... don't make me go get my pitch forks again.
He will be the Braves ace for years to come, damnit and don't freaking argue with me about it.

He was with those guys in the minors. They were drafted a year apart.Wentz came in with Muller, Ian Anderson and Tucker Davidson
