It's mental. It's happened to a lot of former top prospects. After failing in the big leagues their confidence is shot and they can't even hit in the minors anymore.

Seems to be happening with our boy Kjerstad in Baltimore now as well. He hit at every level on the way up the ladder after getting over the myocarditis, and flashed a little bit in his first two chances in MLB. If/when the O's cut bait with him I'd like to see the Braves take a flyer on him possibly figuring it out again.
Brandon Wood is the poster boy for this.

Usually he can't get over some weakness and pitchers just don't pitch him the same.
Like Riley with that Slider off the plate, etc... theres usually a book that gets out on them and they have to adjust.
Let's see if Chipper can fix him since Hyers and the other two are useless.
I was just thinking an hour with Chipper and he'll be fixed right up
