GDT 8-25: Striding in Miami

Who joins the team next week from AAA or the DL? Burkhalter has to go one the 40-man over the winter, so I would think he's a likely candidate. Sale off the DL. That would leave room for one more.

I keep hearing where Baldwin is now 3rd in ROTY and I just don't see it. The Marlins catcher can't hit a lick besides some power and Collins has fallen way off and so has Miz

1 good week from Drake and he will be back at No. 1. The homer last night was a good start. Hopefully the idiot in charge doesn't sit him 3 more times like he did last week. There should be zero reason why Ozuna starts more than 3 days a week from here on out, and those 3 days should be days that Murphy doesn't catch.

Strider is so fascinating. He doubled the usage of his changeup and curveball yesterday, reduced his fastball usage to around 40% and sprinkled in the slider. For a guy known to throw his fastball so much, it's pretty amazing to see him adjust on the go and have success. It doesn't mean very much today, but it makes me very confident that he can figure it out in the off season.

So this is mostly correct, and just a little bit intentionally misleading.

Strider averaged 17.5" of rise last night, which this guy conveniently rounded up to 18 to make it look better, even after reporting all other numbers to the tenths decimal point to make things look more accurate (the subtle art of misleading data presentation).

For some reason Statcast doesn't have Strider's arm angle listed for last night, but I have to assume the extra rise was due to a higher arm slot. This is very good news because a mid 90s FF works with that type of rise, even if 99 mph never comes back.

Odds have Cade Horton as the leader, Collins in second, Baldwin third.

What has me juiced up is if/when he gets the velo back - or at least most of it- he will be much deadlier than before with his new found knowledge/ability to get hitters out without the gas.
And he hit some good velo -97 - a time or two last night. He’s a determined warrior, that’s for damn sure.
