GDT 8-25: Striding in Miami

Strider is so fascinating. He doubled the usage of his changeup and curveball yesterday, reduced his fastball usage to around 40% and sprinkled in the slider. For a guy known to throw his fastball so much, it's pretty amazing to see him adjust on the go and have success. It doesn't mean very much today, but it makes me very confident that he can figure it out in the off season.
I think if anyone can re-invent himself (although he might not need to do that), it's someone like Strider. He's a cerebral guy and still has enough raw stuff to rely on in a pinch. Looks like a great mix last night. His repertoire is so good he can pitch backwards if he has to.

I dont know why throwing his changeup and curve a few more times a game will help his fastballs movement come back. I think the extended break helped more. He threw like 7 innings in the last 18 months before he came back. Arms gonna get tired late in the year.

definitely agree.. I have no idea why they are letting him even go so deep into games. The team is not going anywhere.. just pair him with Dodd or Stratton or some scrub that can cover 4 innings and don't worry about winning his starts and have him on a hard pitch count of something like 60.

…and then the benches got warned, so only retaliation could be punished, not the original intent. The pitcher claimed Acuna was crowding the plate.

It's nice when Albies does the only thing he can do offensively and pulls a HR down the line. If he can do that 20-30 times next year he might be an average player.
