REAL FOOTBALL Thread

I really don't get the pickens trade now. Only way that half makes sense is if you're trying to win now then rebuild. Now you have a potential electric offense and a shit defense. Which they had the 31st ranked defense last year and lost their only great defensive player.

I think the relationship just soured really quick. 2 1st rounders for a non QB is pretty terrific value. And they got Clark, who is a very good IDL, even tho he's about to turn 30.

They could also try trading for Hendrickson.

Niners are going to crush it this year. We will see how this years class works out but early returns have been promising and you’re just two consecutive good drafts and a QB away from being a Super Bowl team. Make no mistake about it Purdy is a top 7-10 QB with room for growth.

Dallas made out great in the trade.
Yea I kinda thought the same.

I also understand it from the Packers perspective. They are all in right now and Parsons will elevate their defense.

The Cowboys on the other hand are much better off clearing the decks and rebuilding.

With that offense Green Bay had to do this.

It’s a gamble but nfl teams are always one good draft away from opening or extending their window.

The stupid part with the Cowboys was they paid Dak and CeeDee and sent a 3rd round pick for PIckens. None of those moves are rebuild moves. Dak is getting 231 Million guaranteed, he can't be cut until after June 1 next year at no cap savings. The first time he can be cut for a cap savings is as a post June 1 2027, CeeDee just got 100M guaranteed, and can't be cut for a savings until 2027, so basically they have to pay Dakota and CeeDee for 2 more seasons.

I don't think it's inherently a bad trade for Dallas, except that Micah is so fucking good. I forget the stat, but it was something like with MIcah Dallas was top 5 in EPA/Play, without him they were 31st. Micah parsons is one of the best defensive players in the NFL, you're not wrong that he's wasted in Dallas and for Micah being traded is best. Similar to like mid 2010s Trout.

Dallas if they wanted to rebuild shouldn't have waited on Parsons and should have traded him for more picks and not taken CLark back. It reeks of Jerry thinking he's smarter than anyone and getting another Hershel Walker traded but that trade worked because he got 7 picks. Maybe there's a similar roster condition for Clark, but honestly I think Dallas is just effed. Which I mean I don't care. Dallas sucking makes me happy.

Niners have a lot of injury questions. They could be great, they could be decimated by injuries.

I do agree with you Purdy is a good QB. He honestly reminds me a lot of Ryan. I don't think his arm is as good as Ryans, but they're both effective processors and can make good throws in almost any situation.

But Kittle while he's been super healthy is getting older, he could start breaking down. Or he could have a major injury. Aiyuk won't be around until week 6 or so. CMC has all kinds of injury issues. Trent WIlliams is 37 and has huge questions on health.

100% on injuries for them. depth is depleted so the reliance on top end talent is Probabaly as much as anyone else in football.

Purdy has a very good arm. It isn’t elite but where he is elite is his overall athleticism which I expect to see be a larger part of his game moving forward.

I think I’d be equally unsurprised if the Niners won 15 games or 6 games.
Health is such a thorn in Niners side. They’ve had by far the worst injury luck over the last five years. The one year they had good injury luck in that span they were hands down the best team in football.

Yeah I'd be shocked if the Eagles won under 12 games. I'd be shocked if the Jets won 9. Niners could be the 1 seed or a top 10 pick.

Mean while I'm thinking Falcons 8 wins. Because we're not deserving of a winning record. Nothing is more football than Falcons getting hope for a second then underperforming.

Falcons fans took Matt Ryan for granted for sure.
