Hayden Harris Time! And a couple of other moves.

We needed another soft tosser in the pen. While the league goes velocity, we go the other way. For real though, I'm interested in if he translates

Crazy journey for Harris.

Braves recalled LHP Hayden Harris from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Harris’ story is an interesting one. After going undrafted out of Georgia Southern, Harris played for the Savannah Bananas and then joined the Frederick Keys of the MLB Draft League. The Braves then signed him at the end of the 2022 season, and he has been climbing the ranks since then. This season, in 48 innings split between Double-A and Triple-A, Harris has a 0.56 ERA, 0.73 WHIP, and 73/16 K/BB ratio. He won’t have fantasy value this season, but it will be fun to see how he adjusts to MLB hitters.

There is something to using pitchers with very different velocities together. Keeps hitters from getting too comfortable timing pitches.

Statcast says Harris throws a 4 seamer 70% of the time, and it's 91.5 mph with 13" of rise (almost 3" less than MLB average). I stopped looking at his stuff.

I'm sure we will get to hear Glavine talk nonstop about some nonsense when he's pitching. I'll have to mute it.

Good god. This MF’er is going to get tattooed.

I am glad we finally get to see him.. but he is from the Savanah bananas and literally having the season of his life. Interested to see why he is doing so well though.. 50 innings is a big enough sample to notice a sub 1 ERA...

Perfect time to give him his look to see if there is something to the AAA numbers.

There probably isn't, but what's the harm in blowing a couple of more games taking a flyer on him at this point?

He leaves 96% of his runners on base, which is crazy. He has a FB/HR rate of 3.4% which is also crazy. He allows a BABIP of .220, again crazy.

Dude is striking out like 14 per 9, so something real is happening.

Can't wait to see him.

If you are striking out 40% of the batters you face, then it certainly seems like something is there.

Like others have said, it may be nothing. But it's worth checking out.

I'll be interested to see the data on Harris' arsenal, specifically the fastball. See if it does anything special or if Harris just victimizes minor leagues.
