Absolutely fluky play with Alvarez at third being taken right into the runner on the bag. Ninety-nine plus percent of the time that becomes an out at first base, sigh.

Elder was throwing for us. Aaron Nola was throwing for the Philthies. Nola is just about the only pitcher alive with a higher ERA than Bryce Elder. Cubs were throwing their No. 1 and the Mets were throwing arguably their best pitcher. And somehow both Elder and Nola shutdown the Cubs and Mets.

F that mess. Baseball is dumb.
