All ML parlay:
Mets
Cubs
Red Sox
Dodgers

+598. I used a 50% Odd Boost to get it up to +898.

Elder was throwing for us. Aaron Nola was throwing for the Philthies. Nola is just about the only pitcher alive with a higher ERA than Bryce Elder. Cubs were throwing their No. 1 and the Mets were throwing arguably their best pitcher. And somehow both Elder and Nola shutdown the Cubs and Mets.

F that mess. Baseball is dumb.

Elder has pitched well lately. 3.32 ERA and 3.04 FIP in the last 30 days.

Elder frustrates me. He sucks but then does things like he has the last 3-4 starts. And against playoff teams to boot. He is the perfect #5 starter but man do I really dislike him. I guess that also defines a #5. Most fans love to hate them.

Elder is not even a #5 starter. He doesn't need associated with the Braves after 2025. He is beyond terrible.

I feel the same, but realistically, the Braves need pitching and he fits that need relatively cheap. I like Elder better than Wentz.. and if he is the 5/6th starter in a rotation of Sale/Strider/SS/waldrep/free agent... ideally you sign 2 quality pitchers (not aces really) and Elder is sort of a swing man roll. with a competent manager, Elder could be deployed correctly and probably have value for a team.

Wentz is better than Elder, imo. I would much rather give him starts than Elder.

Not to mention, even before our off-season moves, we already have a starting 5, with Lopez and Waldrep as our 4 and 5 pitchers. We also have Holmes who should be ready to start the season and could start a handful of games if needed. JR Ritchie is ML ready. Fuentes is basically ready as well. We also have guys like Hackenberg, Braun, and Burkhalter who are all in AAA, who all have back end of the rotation potential.

I am sure Elder will be back, because he is pre-arb. But I wouldn't even waste a 40 man roster spot on him personally.

Stop. Elder is a mid 4 FIP guy. He's a below average pitcher that in a best case scenario is our #6 guy waiting in AAA. When he's locating his sinker he's not terrible at all.

Ignoring the fact that his mid 4 FIP is still really bad, I would pay more attention to his FIP if he didn't already an ERA a full run higher than his FIP for 2 straight seasons. At some point, you are what your stats say you are, and not what the expected stats say you are. He's a garbage pitcher that has no business being anywhere near this team in 2026.

A mid 4 FIP over a full season is not really bad. It equates to a 1.5-2 WAR year....which is below average.

Again, at some point, you are what you are, and not what you're expected stats say you are.

You act like he's had 2 full seasons of his ERA being a full run higher than his FIP. The total innings barely qualify as 1 season. He has a 4.56 career ERA compared to a 4.41 career FIP. That's about what I'd expect of him going forward. He's a #5 starter that's hopefully our #6 starter going into next season.

5.61 ERA since the start of July 2023. 4.78 FIP. 266 IP.

That's the most cherry picked stat I've ever seen. I've wasted enough of my life arguing about Bryce freaking Elder. lmao
Cherry picked? It's literally his last 266 innings.

He had a good 3 month stretch to start his rookie that was propped up by bubble gum ands scotch tape. But he's been exactly the same pitcher since July 2023. Which is a 5+ ERA pitcher.

Let me give Elder a little shine. He has done his job as a 5th starter this year. Problem is we didnt have 4 good SP in front of him. Thats not his fault. 25 starts this year 12 Quality starts. 10 with 6+ IP and 2 or less runs. His stats are heavily skewed by 3 horrendous starts.
