Snit Watch

My belief has been since last season ended is that this would be Snit’s final season as manager. So far, nothing has changed my thinking. I agree with Enscheff when he says that if Snit was managing another year, it would have been said already. I don’t look for Snit to wait long to say he’s retiring as manager. Heck, maybe before the season is over

Buster Olney wrote a story today about offseason managerial openings. He led with Snit and said multiple people in the industry expect him to retire.

He listed four candidates: Weiss, DeRosa, David Ross and Skip Schumaker. Schumaker is the only one of those four I’m interested in.

They're forgetting Fredi.

On a serious note, I hope it isn't Weiss. Ross somehow gets a lot of Teddy Bear points from Braves' fans. Schumaker would be a refreshing change, but if he takes the job I hope there are some organizational changes that accompany his hiring.

Baldelli probably wants out of Minnesota after the perceived betrayal by the front office and team ownership (that has decided to keep the team after putting it up for sale earlier in the year) at the deadline. He's a bit overrated in my estimation, but he is more in line with the modern game than Snitker. I think Badelli would want some control over roster construction and that might not fit with Anthopoulos' method. Lovullo would also be an interesting choice if the Diamondbacks move on from him.

We know it was GM speak but AA has no doubt made a list of candidates he wants. Schumaker would be a start to a new era imo and away from the good Ol boys club and I don't know if McGuirk will let that happen. He may want a guy from the past to come in.

I love Badelli. He would be one of my top choices. But Minny would need to fire him. I don't think there is any indication that they plan on doing that this year.

I think just about anyone would be better than Snit. Snit never should have given the job in the first place.
Fredi wouldn’t.

Then again, Fredi knew how to rest his players like Bobby did, so maybe not.

I don’t think Weiss would be either.

Oh, god. I’m defending Snit.

I don't think Baldelli wants to be around for a rebuild after looking like he had a team that two years ago looked like being on the verge of being pretty good.

I’m asking this seriously - what is so wrong with WW?
Fully aware I’m among the dullest knives in the history of drawers…..but what has WW done - or not done - that leads to the seemingly universal dislike of him as potential skipper ?

I realize no one wins at a high rate in Colorado, but his disposition appears to be a Snit clone.

He has said in the past he is anti-analytics, and I cannot see him firing up a locker room.

Walt would probably be better than Snit, but everything stupid Snit does was not second guessed by Walt...who is the bench coach...whose job it is to offer strategy help.

I'm hoping AA shoots higher than a manager 1 notch above the negative that Snit is. Snit guides a 100-win team to 95 wins, and Walt would probably struggle to guide them to 97 wins. I want a manager that guides a 90 win team to 92 wins, and Skip is that type of talent.
