Is Free Speech Under Attack in this Country?

I’m not characterizing the right specifically here. The left broke too. The people who were pro-COVID protocols and anti-Trump fell victim to the same tendencies and behaviors, albeit with different ideas and reasons behind them.
But again - Trump didn't break the right.

What you think its a breakage is the response to the visceral hated towards Trump and his supporters.

Trump has been legitimately right about many things.

But again - Where is the equivalent pushback of say how Sturg and people like him criticize Trump versus anyone else on the left and how they treated Obama?
Social media and political culture is a much different thing in 2025 than it was 2016. There was much less public dissent over Obama’s policies at the time because the layman was still watching cat videos on YouTube during his time in office. The folks further to the left today are actually quite critical of Obama much in the same way the far right is more critical of Trump.

Nonsense - There is no legitimate pushback to now in power democrat ideology (left wing lunatics).

The pushback is now the more moderate (still crazy) democrats.

Obama was as radical as the country allowed him to be at the time. OBama running now would be an outright communist and there would be zero pushback to him.

When Trump ran for President the first time, decorum still was a virtue on the right. JD Vance called him Hitler. The term Never-Trumper was a thing. Then he won, and the same people who declared his words and ideas were dangerous just stopped. You can pretend it was solely due to seeing all the positives of his agenda and evil of the left, but the rhetoric and extremism did amplify on the right as a result.

Yet you want to destroy the diversity of thought on the right

I don't want to destroy it - I just legtimately think that L thought process doesn't work in todays age and shouldn't have any meaningful place in todays discourse.

I've always said in an ideal world L ideology is hte way to go.

Thethe, Trump is able to openly promote his 200 Executive Orders as a major policy win. Pushback is as non-existent as it could be from the center of your party, particularly within the government.

And to clarify, when I say Trumpsim broke us, that’s not actually Donald Trump. Trump didn’t break anybody. Trumpism did. Within the context of how I’m using it, it’s actually separate from the man. It’s describing the state of political discourse and the role of the state in the era, Trump is just the namesake for it.

Yes - People like Vance still actually held the media in high regard and didin't think they would wage an all out information war on behalf of the Democrat party.

Once Trump was in power lots of people realized that it was all lies.

There is so much open pushback to Trump on social media and in regular media on the right. What world are you living in?

During Obama is was an all out lovefest every single day.

Chris Matthews is still feeling tingles up his leg.

A entirely different one than you are if you believe the right-wing media is more critical of Donald Trump than the MSM was of Obama. Trump’s daughter-in-law has her own show on a major network and his sons are frequent contributors.

Thats because you are just thinking of certain personalities on Fox News. There are other programs/hosts on there who have been very critical of Trump. And thats just Fox News - Lots of other 'Conservative' outlets have trashed trump on things like Tariffs / Wars / Social policies / etc...

There was ZERO pushback on the left during Obamas term.

I guess I should clarify that when it comes to pundits and media, there certainly does exist a rift. But a lot of the people you’re describing as conservative critics of Trump aren’t on the team. I’d describe more libertarian minded folks like Sturg, Chop or Aces as more conservative than liberal, but they aren’t really in your coalition at the moment. That’s a fault in my original argument to you, but it doesn’t really change my point that there is some cult shit happening that is unique to MAGA compared to the more global dogmas of the left. Reality isn’t what experts say, it’s what Trump says to a lot of the new media on the right.

Yes and that 'cult shift' is more in response to response to Trump winning and his ideas becoming more mainstream.

If it was civil after 16 and the lefts response was "We should figure out why the country elected this man" as opposed to creating a fake russian collusion hoax and calling him Hitler and his supporters Hitlers youth every five minutes you wouldn't have seen what you described.

Its more of the same from the left - Kick the hornets nest and get mad at the hornets for stinging.

I know I spewed a lot of word vomit in the post that sparked this conversation, but I’m not sure why you’d think I don’t already agree with you here. The left didn’t do that, and it’s one of my criticisms of it.

But you are attributing the rights response to this as a radicalization that happened naturally. It would not have happened had the left not fell off the deep end.

Do you even understand how destablizing to the country the Russian Collusion hoax that Obama started?

If one side falls off the deep end, it doesn’t logically follow that the other side must find a different pool to dive into. This was a choice of the right, not a necessity.

A choice for survival.

Again - You're mad the hornet is stinging after you kicked the nest. (Not 'you' as in mqt)

To straighten out the history:
Noted above is a determination that there was 2016 interference and the FBI and other law enforcement/investigative arms of US govt. were completely in their purview to investigate.
That Trump's name got caught up in it does not constitute a hoax.

Please know what in CIA parlance is the definition of "dosier"

Ok - Even the above is batshit crazy but the fact this is where the left is now is hysterical in comparison to where we were 5-10 years ago when it was clear Trump was a Russian patsy and there were mountains of corroborating direct evidence proving it.

And even still - Idiots on t he left like 57 still think Trump colluded with Russia.
