Second ('Third') Trump Presidency Thread

The argument against this is that people like Peter Navarro and RFK Jr. are presenting little or poor evidence to support their new conclusions while insisting that they know better and Trump is just right about everything. The government is still appealing to their authority, but that authority is basically just smoke and mirrors and the cult of Donald Trump’s big brain.
Yeah. I think everyone in this discussion is right to a certain degree. On more than a few issues, MAGA gets the diagnosis mostly correct, but the cure mostly wrong.

If you are going to respond this flippantly to that suggestion, I’d invite you provide the detailed comparison of the study linking Tylenol to autism to any of the other studies on the topic that convinced you that Trump knows better. Surely you’ve not just blindly taken it on its face that one interpretation of a Harvard study is fundamentally the most true because Trump and his ilk said so. So please enlighten me on what part of the scientific research you found most compelling to challenge the current understanding of the science.

If you can’t do that, I’d encourage you to question how you consume this information. If all it takes is one study being promoted by the White House to all but reject any other studies, I don’t think your dismissive tone here is well-earned.

Quick aside: I absolutely adore that the MAGA cult will jump to elevate any evidence from Harvard that conforms with their views while simultaneously pushing the narrative that Harvard is ideologically captured and you’d be crazy to trust any of their conclusions. I need a handy chart to tell me when the traditional institutions are correct and when they’re lying liars.

I don’t buy anything Trump says at face value.

But folks like you immediately disregard anything he says because you don’t like the way he says it. It gets you all hot and bothered (besides the fact this seems
To affect you personally)

Man, step a few steps back and not get tied up in the delivery, and realize maybe it’s a good thing for the nation that the president is going to announce something “in his own way” that people need to know and be aware of-

Did I know this prior to his presser? No.

Do I need to do more research before coming to a conclusion? Yes, and if i could have more kids I would. And that’s a good thing.

In fairness I acknowledge I lumped you too strongly in with the rest of the cult here. It was an over generalization in response to you personally, but I stand behind my sentiment for much of the people pushing this new narrative.

And you’re right, this does affect me personally and it does frustrate me. I’ve spent much of the past decade working to understand Autism for my son’s benefit, and it does get me hot and bothered when the federal government decides to use a tenuous link between Tylenol and Autism to deliver on a self-imposed deadline to address the issue as if doctors and scientists haven’t spent decades researching all of this. It frustrates me that people like my son (and probably me honestly) are being made into political pawns so that our HHS Secretary can get headlines. It frustrates me that mothers of kids like mine are being led to question whether they caused their children to struggle because they had a headache during pregnancy or vaccinate their children against deadly diseases. It’s immensely bothersome.

so the suggestion at the possible cause is bothersome because unknowingly you may have contributed….not your fault. But …

Understanding that frustration-

What if someone had told you this link before having children? Would it change anything ?

But people are aware now to do their own digging. That’s the takeaway.

That’s all. Not the delivery.

My issue is that it’s pretty well-evidenced that the strongest links are genetic in nature, so I see this full-court press to drive the link with Tylenol to be more likely to obscure than to illuminate when it comes to digging. I was never diagnosed with Autism but I relate very strongly to my son’s experiences and struggles and by reflecting further on how I coped with and/or masked my “symptoms” has helped me support him better and has made me understand my own brain more. So digging into the information was a big part of my journey. Digging into whether one study shows it was actually just Tylenol all along wouldn’t have helped me.

I have to say, burdening your political allies with an insanely disruptive event that “red” cities would have no possible means of hosting effectively is certainly one of the ideas of all time.
I'm a simple man, I've been looking forward to a US World Cup my whole life, I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do, etc. If this Ugly POS ruins the world cup, he's going to make a lot of middle class white men under 40 pissed off at him.

Hey "51 former intelligence experts said the hunter Biden laptop was Russian disinfo!"

Cool. We no longer can trust those intelligence experts, then

Same as the rest of em

Fake news. They se5 it fit the profile of a Russian disinformation scheme and it sounded shady as fuck. A legally blind repairman who couldn't say Hubter dropped it off.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

YOu still are falling for the games they play.

They 100% knew it was not Russian disinformation even if they could contrive of a sceanario where 'if true' it would sound like Russian disinformation.

Yep. The FBI knew the laptop was legit since 2019.

Sensible people understand this - WHat happened in this country with weaponized law enforcement simply isn't going to go away because people want it to.

The way it stops is people like Comey/Clapper/etc... are all behind bars for the rest of their miserable existence
