Let's Talk About Media

Glad to see the Bari Weiss deal with CBS/Paramount after the ludicrous circumstances of her departure from the NYT a few years back. Maybe mainstream media is healing.

Ironically she’s public enemy number one of the Tucker wing of the Republican Party

I just came over her to post something similar. She’s joining with a mandate to make them credible again, and they were already planning a 10% layoff before this. She should have a chance to get rid of some of the worst offenders immediately.

Ellison is supposedly trying to buy the company that owns CNN as well. Maybe the pendulum is swinging right, towards the center.

Even the MSM sees where the winds are blowing globally. We are winning

She does like her some Israel

Don't get me wrong - So do I

Her commentary on Gabbard pertaining to Assad was embarrassing. She will act as a gatekeeper for conservatives to say/think moving forward despite being a 'converted democrat'.

But again, still an improvement on the marxist trash that was running CBS.

While I disagree with the sensationalism and tone of this segment, Oliver touches on a couple points here that I do think are really valid criticisms of Weiss and those like her. Namely, there’s this facade of “independence” and “free thought” embedded in outlets like The Free Press that are really just new outlets for the same behavior of conforming to your audience and stakeholders.

There’s nothing wrong with having such a bias and I don’t really give a damn if CBS has a new one and my reaction to Weiss taking it over is a resounding sure, whatever. But simply being anti-woke in the media in 2025 is not bold or missing from the media landscape. It’s just what half the news is.
