Physical assault is kind of context-dependent, but I could see some arguments for 3 strikes on felony assaults.

Well I've asked you before. If a man robs a house, spends 6 months in prison... then gets out and robs another house and spends 12 months in prison... and this pattern continues. When should he be expelled?

Property theft and damage casts too wide a net. In the case of the person robbing houses or doing their theft in a violent way, I’d say by the third conviction it’d have to be a minimum sentence of something to the tune of 5-10 years? And double or triple the sentence with each progressive offense?

One sticking point for me on property theft is that if it’s a person shoplifting tv’s or something without any violence committed, a 3 strikes policy seems insane. Would we do the same for white collar crime like tax evasion or insider trading? Undoubtedly some of those crimes have extracted more from the economy than a thief could ever hope to.

Yes stealing a TV from best buy is worse than tax evasion bc the former is destabilizing the society. I was in downtown Charlotte NC, walked into a Walgreens, and had to get a cashier to unlock the toothpaste for me. The entire store was locked down.

Thats bc they have been victims of daily property theft.

Tax evasion? Make them pay the fine, put them in jail if you want. And if they keep doing it over and over and over then expel them

But property crime has a bigger impact on society than white collar crime

I am not a big fan of abortion but you cant criminalize it when its legal everywhere else. All you succeed in doing is criminalizing it for poor people who dont have the resources to leave. The constitution in no way gives rights to fetuses. But maybe one day your wife has a miscarriage and finds herself in jail for 3 months because your neighbor is a Karen. Wouldnt that be fun.
 
Problem is "resaon to believe" is often bullshit. One woman in Georgia had a miscarriage. Karen next door sees her dumping it in the trash. There was no investigation until after an arrest was made. Since I know from experience you can only understand if it happens to you I just hope your wife gets tgat lovely experience of being thrown in a cage after losing her pregnancy.

I agree with you on this. I don’t think they need to be removed from society forever, but this is not remotely an adequate sentence.

If there were ever a time or place to invest real public funding into genuine rehabilitation in the corrections system, this would be where I’d start. Make the juvenile corrections process matter without simply excusing their conduct.
