Because maybe the players union would argue a pro Japanese player coming here and signing a big mega millions deal and winning ROY would be somewhat disingenuous.

I still remember when Ichiro won it some people argued he shouldn't have since he played a few years in the Japanese Pro League.

I know it's just small semantics.

Seven full years in the NPL. I think guys who have reached the top level in their country and then come to America ought not be eligible for RoY. I mean, they're just Hoovering up American awards meant for Americans. And maybe Dominicans.
