2025-2026 offseason thread

I also think AA is going to spend the majority of his offseason trying to get a starter and SS.. not sure the order or magnitude of player but I assume it will take him most of the winter. I think the starter will fall into the Bassitt level pitcher and he will try hard to get Kim back. Like others have said, BorASS will probably hold out and AA might have to pivot to someone else.. We might see a reunite with Allen is my biggest fear.

He will reunite with Iggy and then grab a couple more relievers that are a bit dusty and see if he can polish them up.. Then spend the remaining time trying to sure up the bench. I think he is planning to use Murph/Drake as the primary DH with Profar/Acuna getting some time with whoever the 4th OF will be.

AA track record the last couple of years is that unless it is a clear win, he isn't over paying for a player (in prospects or money)

Trading for Freddy Peralta would be a pretty easy way to save money and boost the rotation. He is due only 8 million in the last year of his deal. The Corbin Burnes trade would obviously be a good baseline. They received DL Hall, Joey Ortiz, who were both borderline Top 100 prospects, and they received a competitive balance pick from Baltimore. Ortiz had some helium, while Hall's value was trending down. Peralta is objectively a tier below what Burnes was considered at the time of that trade, so I would expect trade package to be discounted a little.

Ritchie and Nacho seems like a very comparable value, maybe adding an additional prospect outside our top 10, like Baumann or Hackenberg.

This seems to be the most likely course of action to me too.

We have been disappointed with the money spent every year except 2024, so I'm not sure why we think we won't be disappointed this year too.

None of the SS candidates fit- makes me think it will be someone off the radar.

Or maybe the ghost of Simba.
I know Bowman is a weenie, but he said they're very likely to have at least $50M to play with. They could get those three for like $25M haha and that's with no trades... so there will undoubtedly be more.

Just depends how much he's looking for. He turned down 16M so Boras must think his market is more robust than we thought.
He turned down 1 season and 16 million. I think he clearly knows he can get Kim another multi-year deal, even if he can't improve the per year rate.
