2025-2026 offseason thread

Heck yeah. We saved all of our ammo in case they wanna trade for a SP now. Joe Ryan's salary is cheap and he fits that mold but he'll cost a penny penny in prospects. I like Michael King but he's not worth the pick and bonus money imo and Valdez is a douche. I think we'll see them make a trade for a SP. I knew they would spend money this offseason after last year and resetting the tax. If he somehow gets another frontline SP look out.

At this rate, there's almost no way the Braves stop spending. Kim puts the Braves about $8 million over the first tax threshold, with $12 million until the second threshold. They could possibly spend up to $22 million without any draft pick penalties and still have about $10 million for the trade deadline.

Like a drunk happy wife with a platinum card on 5th Avenue at Christmas time!

Boras knew he was gonna over play his hand and be stuck taking less than 16 million on Kim if the Braves traded for another SS so he circled back quick. Is that the first Boras guy we've ever signed?

You had to have a feeling this was the plan all of last off-season - and especially at the deadline. They were like William Wallace in Bravehart: “Hold……!”

a trade for a frontline guy makes the most sense, but who? Joe Ryan would be a cherry on top.

Passan adds that Kim turned down multi-year offers elsewhere to return to Atlanta, where he’ll serve as the club’s starting shortstop before re-entering free agency next winter in pursuit of a larger payday. The 30-year-old middle infielder, who turned down a $16 million player option last month to hit the open market, posted an underwhelming .234/.304/.345 slash line with five homers and six steals across 191 plate appearances split between the Rays and Braves this past season after working his way back from offseason shoulder surgery. From a career-arc standpoint, Atlanta represents about as clean a runway as Kim could ask for to rebuild long-term value, offering everyday reps on a competitive roster without the immediate pressure of a long-term commitment. From a fantasy perspective, though, the bar at shortstop remains high enough that he profiles as more of a deeper mixed-league option with power/speed combo ceiling upside heading into next spring.

Thiis will be the true test on whether Weiss is any different from Snit.

AA acquired another perfect utility man in Nicky Lopez at the deadline in 2023. Snit didn't use him to give days off to starters.

Now that we have Dubon, will Weiss trot out Kim, Albies, Riley for 162 if they're not on the DL? We'll see.
I think Dubón is on a different level than Lopez. And will definitely be used more

So bringing him in to end last season paid dividends. Very nice

AA has effectively replaced Ozuna with a Yaz/Dubon platoon. Where it lacks in impact, it makes up for in quality depth.

Depending on the SP he acquires this offseason can be anywhere from a C- to A-

They're also paying Dubon, what 6 million? Thats alot of chunk of change to sit on the bench. They obviously have plans of him being used all over the diamond giving guys multiple days off.
