What changed is after the 2010 census in which Texas and Florida gained +6 electoral votes while Illinois and NY lost a combined 3. And after 2020 Texas and Florida added +3 while California, NY, and Illinois lost 3. And that trend looks to be even bigger after 2030. Only one way to counteract that and it's to import a ton of illegals.

I wouldn't abolish ICE. But it will have to be substantially reformed to reign in its culture of intimidation and impunity. State-sponsored terrorism is also wrong. That's when a non-state group under state sponsorship commits terrorism. In this case, we have state terrorism. Not state-sponsored terrorism.
As Amash notes, enforcement of our immigration laws can be done legally and with accountability. Si se puede.
I also fully agree with this part of his tweet: "They’re using the context of immigration as a pretext to sidestep constitutional limits—warrants, due process, and transparency—that protect us all from government abuses. We need immigration enforcement that respects the Constitution, not an agency that evades it."

I don’t think it’s racist to enforce immigration laws. I think it’s foolish to be so restrictive regarding our immigration processes, that the Trump Administration is enforcing the laws recklessly and spending too many resources on getting rid of folks that are otherwise not committing crimes and that there are racists within the movement, but it’s not racist on its face to do deportations or even to support them.
I could just as easily play a clip of George W. Bush or Reagan regarding immigration and ask the same of Republicans. There’s been an extreme increase in polarization on this issue and the left is certainly guilty of not compromising enough on the issue. I think there are genuinely realistic options that could satisfy a vast majority of the country available and instead we have poor cooperation between opposing ideologues.

If they were simply deporting illegal immigrants that's one thing. Instead they arresting US citizens because they aren't white.
