119th Congress or Red Wave In Adult Land

The House has impeached him multiple times. And has had grounds for more. But I think they have drawn the right conclusion from the previous experiences. The failure to convict in the Senate and the public indifference suggest impeachment is not a fruitful avenue. Not to mention the political fates of the handful of Republicans who supported impeachment and removal.

The way our system is set up requires a certain amount of self-restraint by those given executive power. I suspect there is no system that can be fully functional without that.

It is up to the voters to make sure the people they elect have that minimal self-restraint. I think Andrew Johnson and Trump are the two presidents who have stressed the system to the breaking point. And Johnson wasn't elected. American voters and our political system have largely performed that basic function. This has allowed the constitutional system to work. We have taken this self-restraint for granted because it has almost always been there.

Rep. Crocket (D-Texas) can in fact pronounce "precedence".
How uppity.

No discussion over prosecutor Smith's Thursday morning testimony

Crockett’s identity as a black woman is certainly not my issue with her. But while I wouldn’t describe her as uppity, I would describe her as an aggressively self-centered representative who is more focused on her personal brand than helping her constituents.

we disagree. I find her a breath of fresh air. Regardless her skin color
or tone of voice
but rather the issues she speaks forcibly to
