2025-2026 offseason thread

I’d invite anyone that can play defense and has a pulse with the bat.

We are going to have issues getting Murphy any ABs hoping he can find it again, and also while Kim is out.

Our margin of error is thin in this division.

Slow start ? Long losing streak? Toast.

The SP depth is wayyyyyyyy better than last year. We just better hope that Waldrep and Ritchie are the real deal when one of the big 3 go down and we know it'll happen at some point. I wonder what Arreaz wants and if he expects to play all the time bc he could help a lot off the bench.

I am joking.. but I don't see him getting that. best case is someone like Bassitt that just slots in at #5 and pushes Lopez and Holmes to the pen/spot starter.
Bassitt’s more of a No. 5 in a bad season, a decent No. 3 in a great season, and a No. 4 most of the time. lol But he brings durability, reliability and enough upside to play a really solid role for us.

I am not against Bassitt by any means. I really want Lopez and Holmes to be pen/spot starters.. But I don't see Bassitt starting over any of our healthy pitchers sans Waldrep... maybe. If Strider is still tossing 94, then maybe him as well, but that is unknown.

It’s as much about quality as it is about quantity. The bench players they have added are much better than the ones they had last year. That matters when you have to count on them for bigger roles than intended for a couple of months.

The opening day roster will look much different than the roster by the end of May.

Ok, but there are literally 13 position players on the 40 man roster. The minimum number of position players an MLB team must have is 13. That’s the definition of zero depth going into the season.

yeah, AA needs to add more bats with Kim/Murph out for the first monthish.

And I don't trust Murphy's hip or Kim's throwing hand to be on schedule. It could be June before they are back and with little to no depth all we would need would be Riley or Albies wrist to act up again and we could be sunk. I'm pretty confident with the OF right now but the Infield needs help.

The idea of baby Acuna is growing on me. Good pinch runner and would be the RHH jack knife compliment to Dubon. Wouldn’t expect anything special out of him but if used properly could provide a ton of value.
