Why Academics Leftists and Elitists Need to Treat Ordinary Americans With Respect

Let it be known that if I am ever asked to weigh in on a particular topic on these boards, I will never not do so.

But my positions are defensible... whereas most leftist lunacy is not. So I get it
 
It is true that there is a certain inconsistency. Genocides in places like Burma, Rwanda, Bosnia never registered on the radar screens of college activists.

So if you want to charge campus activists with inconsistency/hypocrisy/selective outrage you wouldn't be wrong.

Campus activists tend to be pretty lefty in their politics. With an anti-Israeli streak that has been around for quite some time. But I would say Israel killing over 3% of the Gaza population in the past few years has given them a lot of allies among people who are normally supportive of Israel.

To that they turn a blind eye. Similar to the blind eye they turned to the tyranny and brutality exercised by communists. They are certainly not equal opportunity in the application of their outrage.

I acknowledge the point you’re making, but there are still some contributing factors you’re underselling like specific demographics and perceived legitimacy. If a campus has a Palestinian population watching the US government support Israel’s slaughter of Palestinians, there’s a different dynamic at play.
