2025-2026 offseason thread

I mean, if Acuña, Riley, Albies, Olson and Harris are all healthy all year and not getting Monstar’d then who is playing SS and platooning vs LHP won’t matter much. I’m not counting on that though. Get another bat. Ditto for the rotation.

Fangraphs seems to not believe that injuries exist.

the Braves have been outstanding at catcher production. Of all the things to criticize them about, catcher seems it should be down
That’s fair. My point had more to do with the Braves breaking camp with a hole in the rotation while they pay their backup catcher $15m per year.

Aren't the five projected starters healthy to start spring training, or no?
One put off Tommy John
One missed basically all year with a shoulder injury
One will miss a third of the season pulling his groin tying his shoe
One had their arm explode pitching last year

That leaves the guy who tore his UCL twice and Waldrep.

I look at that and think AA could add one or arguably two pitchers.

Only 1 has an option.

I think they should add a starter too, but maybe they wanna wait to the deadline

Stop being intentionally naive. You know they won’t be healthy opening day.
Probably, but what if they are?

Sale
SS
SS#2
Lopez
Holmes
Waldrep
Elder
Perez

Iggy
Suarez
Jiminez
Lee
Bummer
Kinley
Hernandez
Payamps

Elder and Perez can be cut, I guess. Waldrep can be optioned. Even with those moves, it seems you have a numbers crunch.

Perez doesn't need to be cut/DFA'd. He's on a minor league deal already. He'll be in Gwinnett to start the season, unless he just requests his release.

Also, I would be surprised if Jimenez is back before June, if at all this year. AA hasn't sounded to confident on him.

The Donovan trade is really weird from the Rays POV. Almost like making a move just to say you made a move. Williamson is good defender but the projects as pretty pedestrian. Almost no power to speak of and the hit tool isn't exactly special. Seems like they have up a decent bit for a guy that projects as a utility player. The Cards made out pretty well for a guy that is a solid starter, but not really a building block.
