GDT #44: 5/20/14 Brewers (Gallardo 2-2) @ Braves (Teheran 2-3), 7:10

Yea, until he ends up having Tommy John then everyone looks back and questions. I've seen that movie before.

Everyone is having TJ these days.

Not defending the move, it's dumb but using that isnt very good given tons of pitchers have had TJ this year.

That is the wrong way to look at it, I want a less tired Teheran come playoff time and not what we had last year.

Teheran has already been more consistent and efficient than last year.

I think fredi is going for early clinch asap then resting pitchers.

They get Tommy Johns bc they titty feed pitchers. Can't utilize your staff being scared that they will get Tommy John...was it a lot of pitches? Yes, of course it was...but how often does JT throw 130? It's just one game.

Mechanics more then over usage is the reason for Tommy John. Look all the recent Tommy John guys and you will see really ****ty mechanics

It isn't just one game, Teheran threw a lot of pitches to get a complete game in Philly. He's been pitching deep a lot so far this year too. I don't agree with your first point either, I agree with Smoltz on why it is happening so much.

the following have had TJ in the past year or so.

Jose Fernandez, Medlen, Beachy, Patrick Corbin, Matt Moore, Matt Harvey, Nova, Jarrod Parker, Josh Johnson, etc.

List goes on.

It can always be argued as a combination, no disagreement there. But I agree with Smoltz on the main reasons (including how they push them as kids these days).

JT got his ass lit up in San Fran....you have any idea what a game like this does for his confidence? Again, a lot of pitches yes, but he doesn't throw 130 every outting. I've literally seen you gripe about Fredi taking him out around 90-95 pitches before. Let the kid pitch.
