Somewhere along the line, the US lost the concept of the punitive raid. No conquering, no nation building, no long drawn out occupation allowing guerrilla and urban warfare that chews up US soldiers and foreign victims. Just swoop in, tear some shit up, grab a bad guy or two, neutralize some equipment we don’t like, and leave. Message delivered. If nothing else we all should be happy to see it make a return.
