Yeah, it would have been better to just call his bluff there. But in *some* fairness to the Dems, it’s not like he was looking to build any genuine unity here. This whole process has become a waste of everyone’s time. The President just goes up and does a standard political stump speech to cheers from his party and silence from the opposition party. It’s literal political theater and the Dems played their role as expected.
