All the signs point toward he should be a reliever, and it would have been nice for an adult to make that decision last year.

He absolutely should be a reliever, as he's an elite one. But we decided to not grab a high-end starter, so you know.

It was? Didn’t he top out at 95? He was 96-98 pre-injury.

His avg was 95.7 in 2024, so yeah, it was below that, but he was hitting 93-5 in 1st. I think today was progress. Hopefully we see him add a slight tick and hold it longer next start.

I agree. It is progress. I just hope the velocity dip wasn’t due to his arm not being able to go for more than an inning or two.

I'll be surprised if he does. Perez is a much better option, and Richie and baumann will be knocking hard this season
