I have no idea what "significant bump" these guys are trying to show (they seem to be idiots who can't quite use AI coding agents), but a heater at 97.1 is 3 mph above MLB average, 15.6" rise is almost exactly MLB average, and 9.2" arm-side run is 2.7" above MLB average.

This is probably a grade 70 fastball. It is very good. He may be scattershot with command, but the pitch itself is very good.

And no, it's still not peak Strider.

I think Caminiti has a huge year so the farm is looking really good right now on the pitching side. Just need to add some offense.

peak Strider didn’t get his elite velocity until after his first elbow injury in college. We just have to be patient to see what post injury Didier looks like before we make judgments

As I've said before, he doesn't need to be Strider (You're right in that Striders peak FB was special), because he has better secondaries than Strider. I have no idea why he doesn't throw his sinker /split more, but if I were the Braves, that would be my focus.

I don't know the stats enough to know how 'bad' his splitter is, but he throws a pretty good one (albeit a couple of times a game at most). When he was in rooks he spoke about how he grew up throwing it. We know he can throw that FB. Why not use development and have him throw it more? Or get me comfortable with his sinker? In either case, he's coming along. I'd like to see a few more things in Gwinnett. They did him no favors last year. Make it right this year.

Not all velocity is the same. Iggy was throwing 91-2 to start last season, and he was punished. Him throwing at his normal velocity in ST is a good sign.
