Spring doesn’t mean a ton, but the offense legitimately looks much better. It’s also been great to see so many pitchers add new pitches - Hefner is clearly putting in the work.

Most of the action on the field has been pretty encouraging, and everything off the field has comprehensively sucked.

Wentz was likely gonna be the last pitcher on the roster. Sucks we lost him, but let's not act like we were projecting him to be a major contributor.

still shitty off the field news regardless of his ability to produce. Him going down does push guys that are worse closer to pitching meaningful innings however.

I think the difference between him and someone like Jose Suarez is pretty negligible. Wentz' main value came from his ability to be a swing man and not completely suck. No one had any grand illusions that he was going to be a high quality reliever or a quality SP.

I also think we have a good bit of quality depth for SP and relievers that we didn't have last year.

He added velo and new movement.. I liked him better than Elder. He was hitting 94+.. Not an ace, but a better version of a 5th starter.

I liked him more than Elder too. But he wasn't going to start games over Elder. After Schwelly and Waldrep went down, Elder was a lock for the rotation.
