GDT 3/30/26: Braves vs A’s - Good Elder or Bad Elder

What I mean by depth is I rather 2 elite SP instead of 4 good SP for the playoffs.. I would take the old 3 headed monster of EOF/Venters/Kimbrel instead of 7 good relievers. Regular season 2 elite SP and 3 elite relievers pitch at most 50% of the teams innings. In the playoffs they can pitch 80% of innings.

The Dodgers had both poor depth and a poor pen for the majority of last season. Fortunately for them, they were all healthy when it mattered. But they were running out scrubs in their rotation for a large portion of the season, with a bad BP.

What point is that? That you need 7 or 8 starters to last the season? The Braves have that. It just looks bad when 3 of your starting 5 are down in ST.

The problem is everyone KNEW they were very likely to be injured. Most teams suspect pitchers will be injured, but the Braves knew theirs would be injured. Further, they are very likely to be injured again, stay injured, or simply remain ineffective like strider currently is.

Once again, we have to cover the stupidity blabbered on this topic by the same stupid people.

Someone bust out the “just kidding bro” defense.

Phillies rotation is Sanchez/Luzardo/Nola/Painter/Walker. Wheeler close to coming back leaving Walker as their 6th option. Wheres the depth after that?

Mets have Peralta/Peterson/McLean/Senga/Holmes. They got Tong/Wenniger at AAA and a few more at AA. Tong is probably close but the rest are atleast half a season away. Wheres the depth.

This is the competition. They arent better off than us. Fuentes/Ritchie are more ready than anyone but Painter and McLean.
