Do y'all think Bobby Cox and Brian Snitker both wanted to retire when they did?

I suppose a part of me will always wonder with regards to the former, if frank wren just wanted to make a change. Although, my goodness, Fredi Gonzalez was not an improvement, lol.

But for reals, I thought back in 2010 that the additions of Jason Heyward and Frederick Freeman would have extended the lifeblood of Bobby for another four or five seasons.

And with regards to the snit, while he definitely looked checked out, wasn't this season going to be his 50th year in the organization, or had he already crossed that threshold?

At any rate, I'm just surprised he would call it quits and leave on the craptacular note that was last season, while being oh so close to the 50.

But yeah, do y'all think of both men truly called their shot(s) and left on their own volition(s)?

Cox was probably pushed out. I dont think Snit was. Based on what AA said I think he wants a yes man as manager who wont think for themselves.

Bobby probably was pushed out.

Snit realized the game passed him a long time ago. And AA politely gave him hints here and there.

Fredi was forced out unfortunately even after falling on the sword for the Hart regime.

I think ultimately both could have continued if they wanted, but in both cases I didn’t get the impression anyone was pushing them to stay another year.

Specifically in Bobby’s case, Wren seemed eager to turn the page on that entire era with how nasty the Glavine/Smoltz exits were.

I seem to remember reading that Bobby’s retirement being expedited because he and Wren didn’t get along. Which is weird, because I’m sure Bobby could’ve gotten him replaced if he pushed for it.

Wren was one of the worst things to happen to this organization. If it hadn't have been for Coppy crashing and burning like he did, we'd all still be pissed about Wren.
