Economics Thread

I dunno, at my local Shaws nearly every egg option was still over 5 dollars a dozen aside from the shittiest of the shittiest.
One of the things that cool about rural Mississippi is I can grab a dozen eggs from old people selling em for $2 dozen. These eggs are brown, not white, and they taste much better.

I mean I can do that in the summer when it's not 30 and raining. But summer egg prices are rarely the problem.

That sucks.

According to gov’t data, the average price for a dozen was $2.50 last month, versus $6.23 in March 2025.
That's commodity pricing and whole sale basis.

Commodity caged eggs wholesale for 1.70 a dozen with 30% COmmodity eggs are cheaper and shittier. If you want to get them it's fine. But they're always the cheapest. The issue with the year ago shit was that commodity eggs were more expensive than local eggs. Which flipped the market on it's ass.

Hill Country Fare is the cheapest eggs HEB offers. I found this with quick googling.

It would be like if I was trying to make my point and shared what Whole Foods is charging for Vital Farms Large Eggs.

Cheapest of the cheap, the commodity, factory eggs are that cheap. But a decent egg at the grocery store is still setting you back 5 bucks a dozen.

According to HEB, Eggland's Best which is like a bog standard egg, is 3.87. That's not cheap for mediocre eggs.

Okay Zito — eggs aren’t $2 okay. My lying eyes

I spent the entire campaign season explaining that Trump is a socialist, only to be mocked by thethe

But I am perplexed why he is so offensive to leftists like you, when he espouses your your desires almost to a t
Not in the least. He combines the portions of left-wing economic theory I find most ineffective or actively harmful with the typical conservative policies I dislike and tops it all off by using the blank check given to him by Mike Johnson to provide enormous competitive advantages to those who personally kiss his ass.

he threatens private businesses to keep their costs down (Elizabeth Warren approved)... he loves tariffs (Bernie approved!)... he picks winners and losers industries (Obama approved!)... he spends and borrows money like nobody else (Biden approved!). He ensures his spending projects goes to his family and friends (Gavin approved!).

I guess he doesn't propose raising taxes til we are all bankrupt... so maybe that's a complaint. But the man is a socialist at heart. He's the closest thing the GOP has given to the left on economics certainly in my lifetime

Yes, that’s all a main part of my complaint. The bigger issue remains Congress’ unwillingness to just do the legislating, though.
