Jason Hursh, you say? No thanks, VETO.
Townsend would seem like a money saver at 9. And yeah Trevor Condon would need tot get popped by us at 26.Keith Law put out his first mock today. He said the top of the draft isn't as strong as was initially expected. Here's his picks for us.
9. Ole Miss RHP Cade Townsend
I've heard this one a couple of times, which makes sense as Atlanta is fairly model-heavy and Townsend’s pitches grade out extremely well. If any team jumps to take a prep arm in the top 10, I think it’d be them, maybe Carson Bolemon or Brody Bumila.
26. California HS LHP Logan Schmidt
I’m assuming — or guessing — that if Atlanta takes a college arm at pick nine, they’d prefer to go back to high school at pick 26, rather than take another college pitcher like Tegan Kuhns. Under GM Alex Anthopoulos and director Ronit Shah, they haven’t shown the team’s old proclivity for taking local high school players, but Trevor Condon is sitting right there.
They did really good on getting offense last year but 1 of the 2 picks needs to be a P and OF unless somebody falls in our laps.If the Braves go pitcher at No. 9 and No. 26, I think the internet may explode lol
Yeah, if BPA is a pitcher, I have no concerns with it. But they need to take a high-ceiling bat at some point. The only reason the farm has suffered for years (at least externally) is because bats are more valuable to the general executive. So, everything from development to trades are easier. We need to stock the system with them as much as we can. They did really good on getting offense last year but 1 of the 2 picks needs to be a P and OF unless somebody falls in our laps.
Justin Lebron probably fits that best. College SS that's had more swing and miss lately and that's scared some and why they are projecting him from top 5 to top 12 now. If he falls to 9 it d be hard to pass him up.Yeah, if BPA is a pitcher, I have no concerns with it. But they need to take a high-ceiling bat at some point. With our development staff- id trust them to fix the issueJustin Lebron probably fits that best. College SS that's had more swing and miss lately and that's scared some and why they are projecting him from top 5 to top 12 now. If he falls to 9 it d be hard to pass him up.
The staff from a few years ago no lol. The staff they have now? Maybe. His tools are legit and he has pop and speed. With our development staff- id trust them to fix the issue
He's been a little bit streaky at Alabama and a few errors. That being said, he's still a heck of a player and whoever drafts him will be getting a good oneJustin LeBron's stock has fallen and he's projected to fall out of the top 10. I wouldn't be surprised to see him there. But I hope we take a P and an OF in our first 2 picks. Drew Burress has fallen to around the 8 spot and he's a college OF bat. He's undersized at 5'9 so that's not exciting but he walks as much as he strikes out so that's a big positive. I hope Will Gasperino is there at 48 and we can get him.
