Second ('Third') Trump Presidency Thread

TRUMP ON HIGH SKILLED IMMIGRATION"As far as the students, it's 500,000 students. They come, good students. I could tell them, "I don't want any students." It's a very insulting thing to say to a country. They would then immediately go out and start building universities all over China. But if you don't have those students—good students, by the way—if you don't... and we do another thing, you know, if they're good and they want to stay in America, we will give them a green card and things like that. I'm, you know, and that's not only them but other countries. But if you want to see a university system die, take a half a million people out of it. And you know, the ones that won't be hurt are the top schools. The top schools will do fine. But your lower schools, your lower... the ones that don't do quite as well, those students... they'll be dying all over the place.I frankly think that it's good that people come from other countries and they learn our culture, and many of them want to stay here. I think it's good. Not everybody agrees with me. And it doesn't sound like a very conservative position. And I'm as conservative... I'm a conservative guy. I'm really a common-sense guy, I think more than a conservative guy. I think MAGA is common sense. You know, people understand we want strong borders, we want strong military, we want good education, we want low interest rates, we want... you know, we want..

.HANNITY: But I think people would argue they worry about do they have nefarious intentions...

TRUMP: Sure, no, we worry about that. And honestly, you know, they do things to us and we do things to them. It's a very, very fine line, the whole thing with students. So, they have 500,000 students, and our university system does great, you know, it does great. You want to screw it up? Take a half a million students out and you're going to see bankruptcies at the lower end of good colleges but they're not known or whatever. You're going to have a lot of problems. So, it's something I'm always looking at. But it's a very insulting thing to tell a country, "We don't want your people in our schools." I mean, it really is. Now, I'll have people say, "Oh, that's a terrible thing," you know. It is. It's a very insulting thing. And it's very interesting. It's something... didn't come up today, came up last time. Came up last time. But I will tell you that school systems don't want that to happen because you won't have much of a school system.

I'm glad the president is aware of this. At the school I teach at, the undergrads are mostly American. The grad students are mostly Asian. They pay full freight. In doing so they subsidize American students. Fifteen years ago, the Asian students were mostly Chinese. Now they are mostly Indian. China has greatly expanded and improved their university system. It has already happened. That's why their numbers coming here are greatly reduced. India will probably do the same over the next couple decades. Fortunately, there are still some countries with large populations who are likely to replace those Indian students coming over here. At my school, we see measurable numbers from Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, the Middle East, Latin America and Africa. I'm glad the president sees the benefits of this flow. The actions his administration took last year did a lot of damage. We'll see over the next couple years if the damage is lasting or not.

Insider trading is when you trade off non-public info. Like if Trump knew Peter Thiel was about to die of a rare disease and then sold the stock.

This is what that dude did with gamestop. Short sell pumping.

Frustratingly people are going to latch on to specific things like Trump inviting specific CEOs of major companies and social media posts that *aren’t* really insider trading and ignore the fact that we let that one man rather singularly conduct our foreign trade policy and carve out exemptions to his signature trade policy for many of those companies. This should all underscore how important it is that we follow the constitution and have a body of representatives handle such matters. Instead we will get an endless stream of shit like this that will allow Trump allies to accuse people of having TDS.

“The law turns slowly but surely “
The problem is that much of what they claim they’re going to do in courts is absurd and goes nowhere. So they’re just priming an audience of rubes to celebrate frivolous lawsuits aimed at shielding Trump and his supporters from any criticism of their shitty actions. We’re only a decade or so removed from that type of behavior being rightfully mocked and scorned. Remember the Scientology episodes of South Park where the comically bad guy just kept ranting “I’ll sue you” in a whiny voice? That’s every day in Trump’s orbit now.

It always amazes me dems constantly whining about trump lying all the time but the entire party is dishonest about everything. All commentary about VA has been a lie, from the governor, to aoc, to shumer, to jeffries, to their idiot voters. They simply are incapable of being honest

It’s hopelessly dumb and pathetic in a way that’s frankly a little insulting. And honestly, I think the Dems really fucked up politically by responding to Texas as aggressively as they did. The overall economic and political environment is presently very friendly for them thanks to the President insisting on going on television every day to declare he’s fixed the economy and the war is over while we all pay more for everything. All they had to do was say “hey, these stupid fucks in Texas are letting Trump bully them into redistricting” and attack them relentlessly in Texas over it until November. But the DNC has a unique ability to turn solutions into problems.

What in the retarded hell is that graphic? CT5 is northern NH, CT9 is northern vermont. There is no CT9. ME goes from ME-2 to ME-9. There's like 4 times as many congressional districts in New England than there are and districts look like they were drawn by an alcoholic (I know it's AI, but still)

No one party is innocent of gerrymandering. Illinois has some of the craziest. But so does Florida. It's all gamesmanship.
