Minor League Thread Part Deux

Never really gonna get hyped over Rookie ball stats but he looks like a legit prospect. 19 is old for GCL. He is only 8 months or so younger than our guys tearing it up in A ball. So I need to see him in A ball before I allow myself to get hyped on him. He has put up some rather unique stat lines so far. Seems to have a lot of power in his bat.
More about the K/BB rates and the exit velocity. It’s elite in a small sample

112 EVs is impressive at his age, regardless of age/competition.

Oh yeah the power is legit. Certainly makes him a prospect. I assume he is going to struggle making contact at A ball. The Braves are as aggressive as it gets at promoting prospects. So he is still at that level at that age for a reason.

Hey Deester... what do you think is going on with Cam? He's had a really rough start to the year... do you think it's real or do you think they are having him work on something specific?

It's tough to say. He's been inconsistent in the zone and hasn't found a feel for any of his pitches in my opinion. I'm not overly concerned yet as I've tried to get some word on what he's focusing on. If I'm the Braves, I'm saying screw the results and get the feel for your 2 best offerings. I'm not down on him at all. But I'd like to see him put it together soon.

The pitching is finally catching up the hitting a little at a time.

Last night (5/16)

Zach Royse pitched a gem in Augusta. 8 IP, 1 ER, 8 k's, 4 H, 0 bb. He's having a solid year so far, though noting Earth shattering. 7th round pick in 2025 out of UTSA.

De Granpre had an even better showing in Rome. 7 IP, 0 ER, 10 Ks, 2 hits, 0 BBs

Baumann had his best start of the year in Columbus. 7 IP, 1 ER, 11 Ks, 1 BB, 2 Hits

Today (5/17):

In Rome, Kuehler went 6 innings of 1 hit ball. 0 ER, 6 Ks, 2 BBs.

19 isn't "old" for the FCL? In fact, Martinez is -0.2 below the average age. I get the overall point seeing that Hartman, Carey, Guanipa, Gil, etc.. are around the same age or younger and at higher levels.

Baseball America just released their top 30s for every org. New Braves top 10:

Caminiti
Ritchie
Fuentes
Hartman
Gil
Southisene
Murphy
McKenzie
Lodise
Tornes

Before this update, they had Hartman 26, Gil 12 and Southisene 13.

Other big moves:

Dixon Williams - 23 to 19
Owen Carey - 31 to 20
Isaiah Drake - 27 to 21
Guanipa - unranked to 22
Jarvis - 28 to 23
Bagwell - unranked to 28

At this point, there is a large enough sample size between last year and this year that Martinez has to be on the list somewhere. At least in the top 25. I like the other rankings, though Drake needs to be a lot higher. We don't have 15 better prospects than Isaiah Drake, imo. I'd have him around 10th, and over Mckenzie and Lodise.

Also, I don't really consider Jarvis a prospect at 25 years old.
