FIFA World Cup 2014

Well a draw is ideal. But yes after a draw portugal winning gives us our best shot if we lose to Germany.

If the result in both games is the same and Ghana wins and we lose (meaning Ghana wins 2-1 germany wins 2-1) we advance. So that's much narrower than Portugal who has to score 5 goals to advance and win by 4.

No it's trolling. You're doing something to get a reaction, pretty much the definition of trolling.

This is his sole reason for being on the board - to troll. I guess he's proud to be a 20-something year old troll? That role is usually reserved for teenagers. He only posts to get negative reactions, it's actually sad.

Here's the scenarios for everything 4 goals a side and fewer.

If soccer were available on basic cable during the prime Thierry Henry years in Arsenal, Manchester United wouldn't have the biggest bandwagon in the USA.. His prime years he was basically the Michael Jordan and Roger Federer of soccer. Dominance.

Homer

So how exactly can the USA not advance? The second tiebreaker after points is goal differential right?

I don't see either Ghana/Portugal getting blown out in that game. I guess we are rooting for a Portugal win though right?

Just want a draw or 1 goal game and USA to stay close.

The problem for me is I can see Ghana getting one early and Portugal just saying **** it and the floodgates opening.

Yeah, that seems to be the worst case scenario. Hopefully the US can just take care of business.

Looks to be a boring match Thursday. Sure the United States has a little bit on the line, but they are almost a lock to advance. Germany is in as well pending some crazy stuff happening? I am going to go out on a limb and say a scoreless draw will be the result.

Easy there pal. Henry was good but he wasn't that good. He's not Messi, Ronaldo, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho,, etc.

Yes he is. Statistically and talent wise in his prime he's better.

Nationally, league wise he's dominated everywhere. He was as great of a passer as any of them, just as fast, and scored at will. Way more accomplished resume.

You haven't watched soccer that long enough to make a valid statement.

When Henry was in his prime you were busy getting turned on by Marcus Giles chewing tobacco.

You were 8 years old, you probably don't even have recollectin of him playing.

I have to say, his post-prime years have been pretty damn good too. I didn't get a chance to watch him much in the early-mid 00's, but I watch him now and it's frightening to consider what he was like at his physical peak.

Exactly. He's dominating MLS in his late 30's, if he was in his physical peak today he'd be scoring 50-60 goals a season if not more.

If you can keep an open mind, the video was meant to be a homer tribute video but it touches on mostly everything that even supporters of other clubs will acknowledge about Thierry. Ice in his veins, when you needed a goal with the game on the line in the last few minutes, Henry was your guy. Leadership, could direct his teammates. He scored 20-30 goals a year in his peak, and was responsible for even more because he was just as talented of a distributor/passer. Got the best out of his teammates.

You haven't watched soccer that long enough to make a valid statement. You started caring in 2010 by then he was not anywhere the player he was and was headed to MLS.

When Henry was in his prime you were busy getting turned on by Marcus Giles chewing tobacco.

The things he could fit in his mouth.
