Yes New York needs to get something from Anthony's departure. Not too pile on the Knicks, but what pieces do they have? Smith is getting older and is a chucker. THJ was decent last season if I recall correctly.

If they used the amnesty on Boozer and traded Dunleavy, they still would only be able to offer him ~$16M. To offer a max, they'd also have to move Taj Gibson (and maybe Jimmy Butler, not positive).
A S&T would allow them to keep Gibson and get Boozer's money off the books rather than pay him to not play. I think they'd have a much more formidable team if they can get the Knicks to play ball.

Chicago wouldn't have much left if they traded for Anthony. No way can you trade Jimmy Butler away. Hinrich, Anthony, and Noah isn't a terrible starting point.

Not without trading Gibson and Butler and amnestying Boozer. Plus if they do a sign and trade, Melo can get the full 130 mil, rather than just the 90 that the Bulls can offer.
Teams that want a great player, I guess. HOw many teams win without one? How well did Butler, Noah, etc. work out for them this year?
You think Anthony is worth the max?
Because he is 30 and has a bad body type? I just don't feel he is worth max money. Unless you are Lebron/Kobe/KD I don't think you are worth max money past 30.
BTW, I am so damn excited for this draft. So many teams have a lot of assets that want to trade and lots of teams with players that want to trade for picks. Add in the fact its supposed to be one of the deepest drafts in the last 20 years and you have a recipe for an exciting night.

As for the MAX money? I wouldn't give it to him but IF he's the missing piece to Rose/Noah for a ring or finals....then it's worth it.

Forgot the draft was this Thursday.
I think OKC trades one of the picks, or does a draft/stash.

Only way they can is with a sign and trade, otherwise they'd have to clear their salaries to give Melo the 4 year max. Even if it is a sign and trade, I'm assuming the Knicks would want Butler back in the deal.
