9-0

The executive will tend to try to aggregate power. I think the polarization between the executive and the last several congresses (going back to the Bush years) has tended to aggravate this. L'il Bush had a lot of people in his administration who were philosophically aligned towards a stronger executive branch. Obama has continued the trend. The SC court should be a check on this.

It's a good decision . . . and this congress has played horse**** politics with nominees and appointments since the 2010 election.

"In a 5-4 decision penned by conservative Justice Alito, the Supreme Court ruled that "closely held" corporations can't be required to provide contraceptive coverage, thanks to the 1993 Religious Freedom Restoration Act"

Not so much 9-0 today. Once again proving in the USA if you are white and/or a wear on your shoulder christian you get, wirh the help of the Supreme Court to cherry pick laws (or select a POTUS)

" Closely held" my thinking is should Justice Thurgood Mashall of Hugo Black used (invented) that term the Fist Shakers would have had an "activist court" gasm

When the libs lose a decision, boy do they get angry. You should see the comments. First Chick Filet or whatever they call that place (got them more business) and now this. I never seen so much viciousness from a decision. At least the conservatives are like, "well we didn't have a chance anyway because the media never reports all the facts."

If people don't like Hobby Lobby, boycott it and force them out of business. The dollar talks, bullsh!t walks.

In the libs defense the pubs did get pretty dang angry when Roberts decided Obama care mandate was a tax.

AA - Have you seriously never eaten at Chick-Fil-A?

It's like neo-manna. God's gift to his faithful.

We do not have anything like this in Wisconsin that know of. My hometown of Paducah had one in the mall, but never ate there.

They had a right to be. If you pass something no one was able to read and then force a tax on the American people, that is something tyrants do.

If people going get mad at this, there is an easy solution, don't open your damn legs. Don't force me to pay for your bad habits.

People have a right to be angry whenever they want to be angry. If they start burning down buildings, that's a different matter.

No surprise on the Hobby Lobby case. I'm no lawyer, but I think the fact that Hobby Lobby did provide some methods of birth control likely fulfilled the the requirement in the court's eyes. I think the problem is going to be what is built on this legal foundation. My guess is we'll have some religious group that will call itself the "Enemies of the Sons of Ham" and refuse to follow civil rights laws because it violates their religion. Curious to see what happens and I don't think I'm overreacting when I contend that there will be attempts to build some really weird crap supposedly based on religious freedom.

Coming out of this ruling,

This ruling furthers the notion that corporations are people in that this particular corporation is given person status.

The SCOTUS has chosen a religion. Contrary to the original document

The SCOTUS has left itself open to deciding which religious beliefs have favor over other religious beliefs

Can I get a refund on my tax money because of the Iraq War? Based on the 10 Commandments ???
Do Rastifarians get to deduct tax money because of the War on Drugs?
They seem like silly questions on their face but ...
This is the can of worms SCOTUS has opened. Based on ... what?

Oh yeah, ACA will pick up what Hobby Lobby deems ill-reputed
again, for what?

Hey 57, didn't you say you didn't like 9-0 decisions? Well here you go.

Dang, the Left has got some haters. How about they just "adopt" a Hobby Lobby employee and pay a few bucks to give the girl the pill if it is that disconcerting to them.

Take a few breathes 57. Getting this upset isn't good for your health.

And no, they haven't chosen a religion any more now than before the ruling.

Really? Then what was Hobby Lobbys complaint? They just didnt feel like following the law?
Based on ... ???
wr
Again, suppose hypothetically a Rasta Man wanted his money back for the war on drugs --- would SCOTUS even hear the case?
Shoot would it ever get out of county.

Do you find it at all bothersome another law that affects only women is decided by men?
A majority of those men being Catholic?

And religion was set aside --- gotcha

I think tax money should be used to buy me porn. Because the more porn I'm able to watch, the less desire I have for sexual intercourse. And that will reduce pregnancy.

It is my right, after all.

Based on this ruling SCOTUS gets to decide what porn !!
I'm safe, my proclivity is late 19th century

Like the ACA and its illegality of forcing people to pay for something they should have a choice in? Okay.
