FIFA World Cup 2014

Well, we should've seen more of Julian Green this World Cup. That finish was sick. If Dempsey could've done half as well on his myriad chances, we're through. Oh well.

Seriously, Dempsey really disappointed me. Should've had 2. I also don't understand how Wondo missed that point blank chance (was totally onside). Our back line was actually really good.. We just couldn't keep possession.

Disappointing

Especially after you realize the first game was the only one they won

I don't buy it. We were a botched Cameron clearance or one minute away from beating the number 4 ranked Portugal. We hung tough with number 2 ranked Germany and number 11 Belgium. We could have easily beaten Belgium too if Wondo makes a shot he makes 90% of the time.

Eh, we had no business winning the game today. Couldn't get or keep posession for the first 90 minutes. Howard was incredible but Belgium missed a lot of open nets.

We severly outplayed Portugal but were lucky to beat Ghana.

I don't think we were "lucky" to beat Ghana. Just because they held possession more doesn't mean they severely outplayed us. They were mostly kept to the outside and the threats were, in reality, minimal. We took advantage of good, legitimate opportunities that game.

Today Belgium held possession way too long for us to hope to actually win. And still we had a chance, because of an all-world keeper. The goalie is part of the team, too and we happen to have a great one. We missed some wide open opps. due to our own mistakes.

Even today many of the shots on Timmy weren't super threatening. SOme were absolute stunners of course but that's what great goalies do. They make the big saves when called upon. More of them were saves hemakes every day.

Belgium dominated possession but the US was threatening by crashing them on the wings. I think if the US had Jozy up front and healthy they score within 90 minutes.

Overall US had 53% of possession. There's no way that all came in Extra time. Belgium had the shots, but Belgium wasn't taking particularly amazing shots.

Sigh. Sucks that it's over.

Still can't believe Wondo didn't cash that in. We would've been talking about that one 20 years down the line.

I know professional sports are not without some sort of shadiness and I am sure soccer is no different. But do you guys believe that there is an agenda against the United States in this World Cup?

Still hasn't sunk in that Wondo and Dempsey missed those shots. Can not waittt for the US women to exact some revenge in 2 years. Still awesome tourney and I'm proud of the US team. Starting to appreciate the sport more and more. Maybe I can try to get into the galaxy. Although I feel the atmosphere and the epic stage the world cup is played on helps soo much, and you don't seem to get that in MLS. Premier League seems to have it a bit, but I wouldn't even know how to watch and idk if I could get into teams playing half way across the world(although for some reason I kinda like Chelsea.) Either way my respect for soccer has grown.

I don't think so, and i sure hope not. But watching that game I feel like Belgium got the majority of the calls. I know we all have homer glasses on, but usa def got a few raw deals.

Don't worry, Zito and I are working on something to answer all of your futbol concerns, post-World Cup life. EPL games arguably have much a much more energetic environment, as the crowds are not 50/50, but 95/5 or 90/10 in favor of the home team... and generally almost all EPL games are sold out to capacity especially the big named teams (Arsenal, Chelsea, Man U, Man C, Liverpool).

Agenda no, do I think this ref sucked and it worked against the US? Yes. He constantly missed fouls that the Belgians committed.

It's almost like great minds think alike. Except your mind isn't so great :YDS:

I can't vouch for LA but I know lots of great supporters in MLS. They don't draw like the EPL squads, but they sell out usually and have rowdy and supportive fans. I was about to join Sons of Ben in Philly before I moved.
