The Berkeley City Council also made a few alterations to the proposed ordinance Tuesday night, Pappas said. Dispensaries will have to give away free cannabis to very low-income folks, per the new regulations. The amount of free cannabis must equal 2 percent of a dispensary’s gross weight sold. The council specified Tuesday evening that first in line for the free pot would be Berkeley residents and collective members.

I know that Berkeley is a very liberal city but 'having to give away weed' to poor people is a good idea? I guess helping them get jobs and a better education to better themselves is not as important as keeping them down and blaming conservatives for their problems.
 
Yeah.

But they don't make pharmacies give away even the most basic and cheap versions of Tylenol or Advil to low income people but they force people to give away cannabis to low income people? If you have the time and money to see a doctor to even get 'medical' I don't think you'd be low income.
 
Nothing is "free." Someone is paying for it. People definitely get certain scripts without paying for them (insurance and discounts and such). So I'm not sure how this is different. Weed is legitimately used for MS and cancer patients, and they could definitely be low-income. Don't have to have a lot of money to get MS.
 
Berkeley? I mean if you choose to live there then you really can't complain about stuff like that.
