GDT - 7/9/2014 - Braves at Mets

Not to demean Paul Byrd here, but that would hold much more weight with me if a hitter like Brian Jordan said it instead of a pitcher. That being said though he's right. All this team needs to do is look at the approach they took in their 9-game winning streak and see the results there.

Lol in his defense...Ray Charles could determine the teams struggles. Paul is a ball player and I'd much rather he say it than Jordan studdering it out. Lol

By the way, the Braves scout in attendance has to like what he saw from Wesley Wright, he struck out 2 Reds and got a weak ground out sandwiched around a single.

In CJ's defense, he's one guy on the team who seems like he consistently gives a damn.

If by give a damn, you mean throwing temper tantrums when you fail and not doing anything to correct the reasons you're failing, then OK. I'd like to see him channel that anger into being a smarter, consistently productive hitter.

No argument but I'd rather see that than the indifferent, sleepwalking act that too many other players on this team display.

I'm not singling him out for his offense. I'm singling him out for his entire game, and have been since last season. Have you ever watched the ****er play third base?

He's an average third basemen defensively. Like Chipper said last season. He gets to everything he should and not much more. I have no idea where his ability to hit for any power went. That is rather worrisome. I will give you that. However CJ isn't the main issue of the offense though.

He's one of the worst in the league defensively. He has zero range and a weak, inaccurate arm.

I'm glad I've been working so much. I see this 9-game win streak is being challenged by the fact that this team keeps screwing up against crap.

Also, the Nats won against a good team. So, there's that.

If, by "average," you mean "significantly below average," then, yes.

I know stats don't always tell the whole story. How is Johnson tied for second place in fielding percentage and second in errors?

Watching him play in person twice I can tell you CJ is not an average 3b.

I just can't agree with that.

CJ doesn't have the best range but I think he is VERY serviceable over there.

He's committed 4 errors compared to 10 from David Wright, 6 for Aramis Ramierez, 9 by Adrian Beltre, 18 by Pedro Alvarez, and 6 by Longoria. He also has a higher fielding % than those guys. AGAIN, I am not saying he is better or has more range, but statistically CJ hasn't hurt us at all at 3B, I'm just more concerned with his bat.
