REAL FOOTBALL Thread

If we are going strictly on receiving talent, whether TEs are included or not, I am taking SF. If we include who is throwing the ball to them, i.e. making the receivers look better than they actually are, I take the Broncos.

If we're including who's throwing the ball then you take the Pats, Falcons, and many other teams. Kaepernick is a bum.

Denver is far and away the better.

Not that 49ers are bad they're probably second but far behind denver. Denver's 3rd WR is Emmanuel Sanders.

Emmanuel Sanders is a one trick pony though. Go routes are his forte. Not talking him down because every good offense needs a guy who can take the top off the defense. Why are Denver's receivers far better though? You can't just base it off their numbers because Denver has a pretty high percentage of pass plays.

I really like the Stevie Johnson pick up for San Fran. It's hard to fully gauge which team has better WRs, but I think I'd do Denver because Demaryius is in the elite conversation, whereas Crabtree simply isn't yet (if he ever ends up there). And Welker is still really good.

I am speaking just strictly wide receivers right now.

I think it's Denver and San Francisco as 1,2 overall. Atlanta if they are healthy have a formidable core as well.

It's really hard to compare wide receivers when they play in two completely different offenses though. I am compelled to say that Crabtree is a top ten receiver though. So I don't know if that is elite level or not. Thomas is a monster though and that can't be denied.

My top 10 would look something like this. Calvin, Dez, DThom, Julio, (when healthy) AJ Green, Marshall, Crabtree, Josh Gordon, (when not in jail) VJax, and Antonio Brown.

Not sure where I'd rank them but I love the Cowboys WRs. Dez, Williams, and Beasley with Witten. I think they'll be better this year than last.

Dez is just so amazing that any team with him as the #1WR needs to be considered as teh best receiving core.

SF is over rated on here. Xrabtree is good, not great. Boldin is good, but aging. Stevie. Johnson is vastly overated.

Denver is much better.

I would take Wash, Dal, Chi, Cincy over SF. Maybe even NO

I feel like Crabtree is the most underrated football player on these boards. Its really mystifying to me how you guys don't realize how good this guy is. HE GOT HURT last yaer and was never 100%.

When talking about th 49ers total package you have to include Davis. He is just too important in our offense to ignore.

Yeah cause Julius Thomas is a royal bum.

Niners have one of the worst ones in the NFL. Where they make up for it is their depth as they're very strong if not at the top at 2 and 3.

Denver has an ace 1, the best slot receiver in the NFL (maybe second best after Victor Cruz when he's there) and Emmanuel Sanders who's probably below average as a 2.

LOL never called Julius a bum, he's not quite as good as VD, thats all.

Crabtree, Boldin, Stevie, Patton and VD is a pretty damn good set of playmakers.

Vance McDonald could do good as well.

If Cooks is legit, Saints have a pretty good one.

Colston, Cooks, Stills, with Graham is quite formidable.

Might be missing someone else.

Because the difference between Johnson and Sanders isn't close to the difference between Thomas and Crabtree and Welker and Boldin.

I think that Sanders is gonna be brutal for the Broncos. He'll open up for Thomas and Thomas. There's immense value with that.

Thomas is way above Crabtree. Thomas is probably one of the 5 best receivers in the NFL (Only say he's behind Dez, Green and Megatron for sure. And if injuries aren't an issue, Julio as well) He's there with Marshall, Fitz, and Cruz. Crabtree isn't close to that. Fitz I hate to leave out of top 5 but results are hard to argue though his QB has much to do with that. Crabtree is closer to like Golden Tate, Marquez Colston or Pierre Garcon in the good but not great category. Welker is a stud at what he does, best in the business. Boldin we don't know how he'll hang this year, he's older and slower. Of course if Boldin doesn't regress as he's expected then yeah he gives Welker competition.

I'm not basing it off numbers. Thomas is a stud, Welker is the best at his job, and Sanders will add a great dimension of stretching which should open up the middle even more for Welker and the Thomases.

Skins have some really good playmakers.

Big fan of Jordan Reed, reminds me a little bit of Aaron Hernandez on the field.

When exactly did I say anything like that, though? I said "Not sure where I'd rank them." I do not think they're #1, and never even hinted that I thought that. Not everyone is like you and thinks their team has the best everything.

I'm basing it on his whole body of work. And he's a flagrant cunt. But seriously, one season over 1,000 yards, no seasons with 10 TDs. He played 11 games and had 625 yards, compare that to say Julio Jones who in 5 games had 580 yards. Though I guess it's not really fair to compare the 2, as Julio has a competent QB throwing to him.

The only contribution Crabtree has made to the NFL is pissing off Richard Sherman.
