MLB Trade Deadline Discussion

You just contradicted yourself.

Also, what could we offer to top Cespedes?

Price is another story but the money issue was the problem and who knows if Frank would trade that much for a 1 and 2 month rental.

Would you trade Minor, Peraza, and someone else for Price?

In a heartbeat.

edit: As long as the someone else isn't Sims or Wood.

You are completely missing my point. My point is it's an embarrassment ownership won't invest. If they would, we could have acquired Price and had a chance to extend him. We should not be in a position where signing Santana hamstrings the team from bettering itself at the deadline.

I'd be a little more reluctant on Lester, but hell yes, I would trade Minor for either. Would have to think on it with Lester. Wouldn't think twice with Price. It's not even close.

Santana did cost $14 million.....not exactly chump change.

So do we trade Minor, others for Lester and watch him walk after the year?

Same with Price but watch him walk in 2 years?

Again, the injuries are why Frank couldnt get involved in that, not because of Liberty. They'd have money to absurb for someone like Price.

Not for Lester, But for Price of course you do. We only control Minor for 2 yrs longer anyways.

Just wonder how bad it's going to suck if either or both the Tigers and/ or A's don't make it to the ALCS. Or win the Series (1 can't) after all this hard work in trades.

Judging by the fans here, those fans will probably implode, explode and hit the commode if their team(s) fail now!

I don't know... The 3 Cy Young winners? Can't wait to hear your stats about Stras being better than Verlander this year... Even Sanchez is borderline 1, 2 though. Do you just enjoy arguing for the sake of arguing?

Verlander 142.2 IP, 22 starts, 6.62 k/9, 3.28 bb/9, 0.88 HR/9, 4.79 ERA, 4.11 FIP, 4.45 xFIP (Ace)

Sanchez 113.1 IP, 19 starts, 6.91 k/9, 2.30 bb/9, 0.32 HR/9, 3.57 ERA, 2.90 FIP, 3.76 xFIP (a 1 or a 2)

Strasburg 144.1 IP, 23 starts, 10.41 k/9, 2.00 bb/9, 0.87 HR/9, 3.55 ERA, 2.83 FIP, 2.59 xFIP (a 2 or a 3)

Carry on.

When I made the comment, it was off the cuff without looking at the current stats. And I didn't call JV an ace... you just copy and pasted what you wanted to about my comment. You didn't paste part where I specifically said JV wasn't an ace this year. It was a simple comment I made without looking at stats talking about a trade (in the trade threat... who'd a thunk?) that happened just commenting on what a formidable rotation the Tigers have now... which they do. No matter what, JV still has something Stras does not, a Cy Young... and no that is not my definition of an ace before you make the smart mouth comment.

Redo comment for giles: "Man... the Tigers have 2 aces and 2 number 2's and a number 3... that's a scary rotation"... that better for you? Good lord. I'm sorry Strasburg hasn't been the once in a generation pitcher he was hyped to be yet. If you want to call him an ace, that's fine... but do not tell me with a straight face he has lived up to the hype, because if you honestly believe that... you are delusional and even more of a homer than I thought.

Who cares what players are hyped as? Heyward was hyped as a once in a generation talent, BJ was hyped, Justin was hyped, Freeman wasn't really hyped all that much relatively speaking.

What matters is production. People want to diss players to lessor levels than they are because they don't live up to so and so's hype. For example: Strasburg, one of the best pitchers in baseball, is called a 2 or a 3 by zhargrove.

I guess the moral of the story is to make more intelligent posts "off the cuff."

The other players you mentioned above actually prove my original point... which you completely missed about 20 posts ago... a known commodity is better than a prospect, no matter how much they are hyped but as always you never care about discussing the actual topic, just whatever you can argue about... next...

And my comment "off the cuff" about basically saying Detroit has 3 aces wasn't exactly unintelligent

No one argued that Stras wasn't a #1 or #2. Being a #1 =! ace. I have no idea why it's so tough for you to grasp the argument that was being made.

Since you can't read very well, I will post what was said.

"Stras is a solid 2 or 3, but far from an ace."

Ok, that wasn't my argument from yesterday.
Not seeing something doesn't mean I can't read so don't slander me I'll get fired.

I wan't arguing with you or even responding to you so I'm not sure why you are even referencing me.

The fact getting lost in all of this is that Stras plays for the zombie expos, is thus a total ***, and the clear deduction is that any fans of his are total ***s too.

Not that there is anything wrong with that....

Not true, we control Minor for 3 more years after this year.

Price for 1 after this year if we got him.
