Yea I like Gov as poster and I understood sticking with BJ as far playing him goes (though I don't agree with still sticking with him now). But also batting him high in the order for so long (including when he was batting second) was just as you say.
 
The fact is, if we miss the playoffs by a few games, that's totally on Fredi for his ignorant decision regarding BJ. And that doesn't even factor in all the other bizarre decisions he makes on a regular basis.
 
The Braves are 19-17 when BJ has batted leadoff, and 26-26 when he has batted 2nd. In other games, the Braves are 22-18. There might be a disparity in points for, but as far as record, there's little difference where BJ bats in the order. The fact that he's in the lineup at all and we don't have a viable replacement is the bigger issue, and that is on Wren, not Fredi.

This is as bad an argument as posting our record with Uggla in the line-up. Enough said. But you are half right and I agree that Wren deserves blame too. Wren and Fredi have been a bad combo here.

BJ Batting Leadoff: 4.7 runs per game
BJ other spots: 3.4 runs per game

Braves are 5-0 when I get a hooker or go to a strip club.

The real reason for the offensive boon is Freeman and Justin are hot at the same time. Last 14 days Justin is hitting .370/.492/.739 and Freeman is hitting .404/.541/.638 in the last 14 days. Hitting back to back that's going to score a lot of runs. Justin alone has 20 rbi in that time span alone.

It's actually very easy to explain: he was trying to show BJ he had faith in him and make him play through his troubles. It half worked too.

I agree that he stuck with it too long but his options were very limited. Fredi obviously likes to spread the offense out in the lineup rather than bunching his best hitters 1-2-3, but it's hard to "keep the line moving" when half the team is setting career highs in strike outs.

Yeah, this is how I feel. Bobby used to stick with guys too long, too, but often it worked out. Long after I'd quit on guys he'd get something out of them. It's also good for guys psyches to know there's not a quick hook, and that doesn't show up in the numbers.

Managing a ballclub requires a good bit of psychology. It's not entirely a statistical undertaking.

He's got to optimize the assets given him. If BJ had come around, we'd've said, "damn, he got something out of BJ." As it is, there were glimmers. Eventually he flatlined. He simply doesn't make enough contact to play Major League Baseball at this point. But I thought Fredi took an emotionally fragile asset making $15m a year and tried to make the best of it.

If you want to blame somebody, blame the front office for buying this guy.

Surely those things matter somewhat. Not at the expense of actual talent (see Towers, Kevin), but would we not benefit from Huddy and late Chipper, perhaps more than their stats would suggest?

I saw where Minor credited Santana with the grip on two of his pitches. Don't those kinds of things matter a bit?
