9/19 METS (Wheeler) vs. BRAVES (Teheran), 7:35

One person can make or break a team. Just ask Fredi.

:fredi:

Right.

LaStella not playing is the reason we're not in the Top 10 in scoring, instead of 29th.

Doesn't matter how much you guys want to spin this on Fredi, his mediocre lineup management is nowhere even close to being the major reason we aren't going to the playoffs this year.

We were an all or nothing team last year with some clutch hits, and we were an all or nothing team for a lot of this year and it was magnified even more. When we stopped hitting homeruns, we looked awful. It was a miracle if we manufactured a run from small ball or even a cluster of singles.

Too many holes in the lineup. I don't care if Heyward-Upton-Freeman-Gattis was the front 4 every night, still doesn't change the fact BJ was awful, CJ was not so good, Andrelton regressed, and 2B has been a merry go around.

I like LaStella as much as you, but him being missing for a few games in the lineup is not the reason we've been unable to score runs.

That's the thing though. Fredi can't magically turn this into a good offense. When you have good hitters and are scoring runs, it doesn't make much of a difference who you bat where in the lineup. But, when your offense is struggling, you have to maximize your run potential to improve your chances of winning. That means not giving the worst hitters on your team the most at bats. Fredi may not be solely responsible for this meltdown. But, he's not helping. He's not putting his team in the best position to win, which is the primary job of a manager.

Even I have to finally and reluctantly agree. The time for letting struggling hitters try to work themselves out their holes - looking at you, BJ, - has come and gone. And that experiment of spreading around the suckage obviously was a giant failure. It should've been done long ago but at some point you just HAVE TO put your best 3 hitters at the top of the lineup and treat every time through like extra innings in the WS.

That said, with Jason out and Justin joining the sucking party do we even have 3 good hitters to run out there???

I was talking about Fredi (that's why I said person instead of player), not Stella!

Gosselin is a better hitter than Stella

but

They are both better than CJ. I can't watch when he hits because he just make my blood go up with his stupid swings, it is like the pitcher make a mistake with something up for him to hit. Just pitch him knees and below and he will whiff most of the time.
